Product Overview
Breathable, hypoallergenic paper surgical tape for securing dressings and light tubing. Gentle on sensitive skin with reliable hold.
Description
Micropore Surgical Tape is a multi-purpose medical paper tape designed for general securement needs. It provides gentle adhesion while holding dressings and devices in place, and is suitable where repeated taping may be required.
Key features
- Hypoallergenic & latex-free: suitable for sensitive skin and those with latex sensitivity.
- Breathable paper backing: highly breathable to support skin integrity during wear.
- Reliable hold: adheres well and can hold on damp skin, helping keep dressings and light devices securely in place.
- Low-residue removal: designed to remove with minimal adhesive residue.
Typical uses
- Securing small to medium dressings and gauze pads
- Fixing light tubing and non-critical devices in place
- Supporting fragile or at-risk skin where a gentler tape is preferred
How to Use
For external use only. Use on intact skin to secure dressings or medical devices.
- Prepare the skin: Ensure the area is clean and dry. If skin is very oily or moist, adhesion may be reduced.
- Cut or tear to size: Tear by hand or cut with clean scissors.
- Apply: Place over the dressing edge or device fixation point. Smooth down gently from centre to edges.
- Avoid over-tight application: Apply without stretching the tape to help reduce skin stress.
- To remove: Peel back slowly, keeping the tape low and close to the skin while supporting the skin with your free hand. If needed, remove in the direction of hair growth.
When to seek advice
- If you are taping over a wound and there are signs of infection (increasing pain, heat, swelling, pus, fever), or if the wound is deep/large, seek medical advice.
Ingredients
Materials (typical): Microporous paper backing with a skin-friendly medical adhesive (commonly acrylate-based for this tape type).
