Description
Actilite® Dressing Pad (5cm x 5cm) by Advancis Medical is a sterile, single-use wound contact dressing made from a light non-adherent viscose net coated with 99% Manuka honey and 1% Manuka oil. It is designed to:
- Protect the wound bed
- Support a moist wound healing environment
- Allow wound exudate to pass through into a suitable secondary dressing
The combination of Manuka honey and Manuka oil is intended to provide an antibacterial dressing environment, with Actilite described as suitable for granulating and epithelialising wounds where moisture balance and protection are important.
Indications (may be used on all wound types including):
- Cuts and abrasions (superficial, partial or full thickness)
- Pressure ulcers
- Leg ulcers
- Surgical wounds
- Burns
- Infected wounds
- Graft and donor sites
Size: 5cm x 5cm.
How to Use
Preparation
- Use aseptic technique where appropriate.
- Cleanse the wound as directed by a healthcare professional.
Application
- Remove Actilite from the outer pack.
- Remove the clear film backing from both sides of the dressing.
- Place directly onto the wound bed either side down (it may be cut to size).
- Cover with a secondary dressing, chosen according to wound tissue type and exudate level (e.g., an absorbent dressing or semi-permeable film).
Frequency of change
- Depending on clinical observation, Actilite may be left in place for up to 7 days.
- As honey becomes diluted by exudate, change the dressing when the colour changes significantly to help maintain effectiveness.
Handling tip (honey texture)
- If the dressing has hardened in the cold, warm it between your hands to soften.
- If it has become too soft, place it somewhere cooler (e.g., a fridge) for a few minutes.
Ingredients
- 99% Manuka honey
- 1% Manuka oil
- Viscose net dressing (contact layer substrate)

- Actilite contains glucose. Monitor blood glucose in patients with diabetes.
- Pain on application can occur in some patients depending on wound sensitivity. Consider appropriate analgesia if needed.
- If pain continues, discontinue use and irrigate the wound with saline solution.
