Description
Anadin Extra Soluble Tablets – 12 Tablets provide triple-action pain relief with aspirin + paracetamol + caffeine in a soluble format you dissolve in water. Aspirin and paracetamol relieve pain and reduce temperature, while caffeine helps boost the pain-relieving effect.
Effective relief for mild to moderate pain including:
- Headache and migraine
- Neuralgia and toothache
- Sore throat
- Period pains
- Sprains and strains
- Rheumatic pain, sciatica, lower back pain (lumbago), fibrositis
- Muscular aches and pains
- Joint swelling and stiffness
- Influenza, feverishness and feverish colds
Pack size: 12 soluble tablets.
How to Use
Always read the leaflet before use. For oral administration and short-term use only. Use the minimum effective dose for the shortest time needed to relieve symptoms.
Adults, the elderly and young persons aged 16 and over:
- Dissolve 2 tablets in a glass of water
- Take up to 4 times a day as required
- Leave at least 4 hours between doses
- Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours
Age limits:
- Do not give to children under 16 years, unless advised by a doctor (risk of Reye’s syndrome with aspirin).
- For migraine: not recommended for under 18s.
Important:
- Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing products.
- Avoid excess caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea, energy drinks) while taking this product.
- Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
If you take too many: get medical help straight away, even if you feel well. Too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage.
Ingredients
Active ingredients (per tablet):
- Aspirin 300mg
- Paracetamol 200mg
- Caffeine 45mg
Other ingredients:
Citric acid (E330), calcium carbonate (E170), lactose, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), potato starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, maize starch, hydrogenated vegetable oil, lemon flavour, saccharin sodium, aspartame (E951), dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, pregelatinised starch, povidone.
Sodium: less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per tablet (essentially “sodium free”).
Side Effects & Warnings
Contains aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine. Read the leaflet before use.
Do not take if you:
- Are allergic to aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine or any ingredient
- Have or have ever had a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
- Have haemophilia (blood does not clot well) or gout
- Are breastfeeding
- Have asthma caused by aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Are in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if you:
- Have asthma, allergic disease, history of gout, kidney or liver disease (including alcoholic liver disease), dehydration, G-6-PD deficiency, or phenylketonuria (PKU)
- Are pregnant (seek advice before use)
- Have severe illness (including severe kidney impairment or sepsis), malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, or you are taking flucloxacillin (rare risk of metabolic acidosis with paracetamol; seek urgent advice if symptoms occur).
Taking other medicines
Do not use with other NSAIDs. Tell your pharmacist/doctor if you take medicines including: anticoagulants/thrombolytics (blood thinners), corticosteroids, medicines for gout (e.g., probenecid), high blood pressure medicines (risk of kidney issues), metoclopramide (anti-sickness), phenytoin, valproate, methotrexate, sulphonylureas (diabetes), antacids, SSRIs, cholestyramine, domperidone, warfarin, or flucloxacillin.
Possible side effects
Stop taking and seek medical advice urgently if you notice: wheezing/breathing difficulties, unexpected bleeding or bruising, severe allergic reaction (swelling/rash/breathing difficulty), serious skin reactions (blistering/rash), or signs of liver problems.
Other effects can include stomach upset (indigestion, nausea/vomiting), dizziness/headache, insomnia/restlessness/anxiety/irritability, and prolonged bleeding time.
Important ingredient warnings
- Contains aspartame (source of phenylalanine) and may be harmful in PKU
- Contains lactose (seek advice if you have been told you have intolerance to some sugars)
