Avarante 10mg Film-Coated Tablets are used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. They contain tadalafil, a medicine from the PDE5 inhibitor group that helps increase blood flow to the penis, making it easier to get and keep an erection when sexually stimulated. It does not work without sexual arousal and does not increase sexual desire on its own.

Avarante can start to work from 30 minutes after taking a tablet and the effect can last for up to 36 hours, which gives more flexibility around timing compared with shorter-acting treatments.

Take one tablet with water at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The usual dose is 10mg, and you should not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.

Avarante is intended to be taken when needed, before anticipated sexual activity. It is not intended for continuous daily use in this presentation. If you feel you need treatment every day, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

You can take the tablet with or without food. Avoid grapefruit juice, as it can affect how tadalafil works. Large amounts of alcohol may also make it harder to get an erection.

Each film-coated tablet contains 10mg tadalafil.

Other ingredients:

Lactose anhydrous, poloxamer 188, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, colloidal anhydrous silica, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, iron oxide yellow and triacetin.

Allergy / intolerance advice:

Contains lactose. This may not be suitable if you have been told by a healthcare professional that you have an intolerance to some sugars.

Do not take Avarante if you are not experiencing erectile dysfunction, if you are allergic to tadalafil or any of the ingredients, or if you take nitrates or nitric oxide donors for chest pain or heart failure, amyl nitrite (“poppers”), or riociguat / other guanylate cyclase stimulators. These combinations can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure.

Do not use this medicine if you have been advised to avoid sexual activity because of a heart or blood vessel problem, have had a recent heart attack within the last 90 days, a stroke within the last 6 months, unstable angina, severe heart failure, uncontrolled arrhythmia, low blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or if you have ever had loss of vision due to NAION.

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have heart problems, liver problems, severe kidney problems, a deformed penis, sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma, leukaemia, stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, or if you are taking alpha-blockers for prostate symptoms or high blood pressure.

Common side effects can include headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in the arms and legs, facial flushing, nasal congestion and indigestion. Seek urgent medical help if you develop chest pain, a prolonged or painful erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss of vision, sudden hearing decrease or loss, or signs of an allergic reaction.

This medicine can cause dizziness, so do not drive or use machines if affected. It is for adult men aged 18 years and over only.
