Description
Buscopan IBS Relief tablets are used to relieve abdominal cramps (spasms) that cause pain and discomfort associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). They contain hyoscine butylbromide, an antispasmodic that works by relaxing the cramping muscles of the bowel.
For best results: use only if a doctor has told you that you have IBS. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 2 weeks, speak to a doctor.
Pack size: 20 tablets (2 x 10).
How to Use
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your pharmacist/doctor has told you.
Adults and children aged 12 years and over:
- Start with 1 tablet 3 times daily.
- If needed, increase up to 2 tablets 4 times daily.
- Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Get medical advice urgently if you develop unexplained abdominal pain with red-flag symptoms (e.g., fever, blood in stools, persistent vomiting, unexplained weight loss, or severe constipation), or if you are 40+ and your IBS symptoms are new/changed.

Sucrose and other tablet-coating ingredients (sugar-coated tablet). If you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
Side Effects & Warnings
Do not take if:
- You are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or any ingredients.
- You have glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, megacolon, or a bowel blockage/obstruction.
- You are pregnant, might become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Speak to a pharmacist/doctor before use if:
- This is the first time you’ve had IBS symptoms, your symptoms have changed, or you have alarm features such as fever, blood in stools, persistent vomiting, severe constipation, unexplained weight loss, or difficulty passing urine.
- You are taking medicines with anticholinergic effects (some travel sickness medicines, antihistamines, certain antidepressants/antipsychotics), or medicines that may interact such as metoclopramide.
Possible side effects
- Dry mouth (reported).
- Fast heart rate (tachycardia), skin reactions (e.g., itching/urticaria), difficulty passing urine (rare).
- Severe allergic reaction (very rare): swelling of face/lips/tongue, breathing difficulty, collapse – stop taking and seek urgent medical help.
- Acute glaucoma symptoms (eye pain/redness, blurred vision/haloes) require urgent medical attention.
Storage: Do not store above 25°C. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
