Care Simple Linctus Paediatric Sugar Free - 200ml

Care Simple Linctus Paediatric Sugar Free 200ml is a paediatric cough syrup specially formulated to provide symptomatic relief of dry and irritating coughs in children aged 1 to 12 years. It contains citric acid monohydrate, which works as a demulcent, forming a protective coating over the throat to help soothe soreness and reduce the urge to cough.

This sugar-free formulation is suitable for children who may need to avoid sugar for dental health or metabolic reasons, and its mild flavour helps improve palatability for young patients. Care Simple Linctus is commonly used in pharmacy practice as a first-line option for managing non-productive (dry) coughs associated with colds, allergies and throat irritation.

Suitable for: Children aged 1 to 12 years

Always use this medicine exactly as described on the product packaging or as advised by a pharmacist or GP.

Dosage for children:

• Children aged 1–5 years: 1 × 5ml spoonful, up to 4 times a day as needed
• Children aged 6–12 years: 2 × 5ml spoonfuls (10ml), up to 4 times a day as needed

Administration:

• Use the supplied measuring spoon or an oral syringe for accurate dosing.
• The syrup is taken by mouth and can be given with or without food.

Important advice:

• Leave at least 3–4 hours between doses.
• Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
• If cough persists for more than 5 days or worsens, consult a doctor or pharmacist. 

Active ingredient (per 5ml):

• Citric Acid Monohydrate 31.25mg – acts as a demulcent to coat the throat and soothe irritation.

Other ingredients include:

• Glycerol (E422)
• Aniseed flavour (contains propylene glycol)
• Maltitol liquid (E965)
• Sodium benzoate (E211)
• Purified water

This product is sugar free. Always check the packaging for the most up-to-date ingredient information, particularly if your child has food sensitivities or allergies. 

Important warnings:

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not give more than the stated dose.
• If symptoms persist for more than 5 days, worsen, or if new symptoms develop, consult a doctor.

Do not use:

• If your child is allergic to citric acid monohydrate or any other listed ingredients.

Possible side effects:

• Although generally well tolerated, excessive doses may cause headache, stomach upset or diarrhoea due to glycerol content.
• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing) are rare but require immediate medical attention if they occur.

Precautions:

• Contains maltitol liquid; may have a mild laxative effect if taken in excess.
• If your child has hereditary fructose intolerance or other sugar intolerances, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C.
• Do not refrigerate.
• Use before the expiry date shown on the bottle.
