Product Overview
Rich, fragrance-free emollient ointment to soften and protect very dry, itchy skin. Suitable for eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis and can be used on the skin, in the bath or as a soap substitute.
Description
Dermipar® Ointment – 500g is a rich, protective 3-in-1 emollient designed to help soothe, soften and hydrate very dry or cracked skin. It can be used:
- directly on the skin as an emollient
- as a soap substitute for washing
- as a bath additive to help reduce skin dryness.
What it’s used for
Dermipar® Ointment is intended for the symptomatic relief and ongoing management of dry skin conditions, including:
- Eczema
- Dermatitis (including contact dermatitis)
- Psoriasis
- Other dry, scaling or itchy skin conditions where an intensive ointment is preferred.

How to Use
Always use as directed. For dry skin conditions, regular and generous use is often needed.
As an emollient (leave-on moisturiser)
- Apply to clean, dry skin as often as needed, especially after washing.
- Smooth gently onto the skin in the direction of hair growth.
- Reapply to dry areas throughout the day.
As a soap substitute (skin cleanser)
- Use a small amount to wash with instead of soap in the bath or shower, then rinse if required.
- Soap and frequent washing can worsen dryness; using an emollient cleanser can help protect the skin barrier.
As a bath additive
- Melt/disperse a small amount in warm water and soak as advised.
- Take care: emollients can make bath/shower surfaces slippery.
If using other topical medicines (e.g., steroid creams): apply the emollient regularly and allow time for it to absorb before applying medicated products, following the advice you were given.
Ingredients
Dermipar® Ointment contains a blend of established emollient ingredients:
- White soft paraffin
- Liquid paraffin
- Cetomacrogol emulsifying wax
Fragrance-free and colourant-free.
Side Effects & Warnings
Possible side effects
Most people use emollients without problems. If irritation occurs, stop use and seek advice.
- Local skin reactions can include redness, stinging, itching or rash, particularly on broken or very inflamed skin (more likely with frequent washing or sensitivity).
Important warnings
Fire risk (clothing and bedding)
Emollients can soak into fabrics. Fabric with dried-on emollient can ignite more easily and burn more intensely.
- Do not smoke or go near naked flames/heat sources while emollient is on your skin and in contact with clothing, dressings or bedding.
- Wash clothing/bedding regularly to reduce build-up (this may not remove all residue).
Slips hazard
Using emollients in the bath or shower may make surfaces slippery. Take extra care.
When to seek advice before use
Speak to a pharmacist/GP if:
- the skin is weeping, infected, very painful, or rapidly worsening
- you think you may need a medicated treatment alongside emollients
- symptoms don’t improve with regular emollient use.
