Drapolene Cream - 100g

Drapolene Cream – 100 g is a soothing antiseptic topical cream formulated with mild antiseptic ingredients to help prevent and treat nappy rash in babies and sore skin associated with incontinence (urinary dermatitis) in adults. It can also be used to soothe minor burns, mild sunburn and skin irritation caused by exposure to the weather.

The cream has a non-greasy, water-miscible base that helps form a protective layer over irritated areas without blocking disposable nappies or creases in fabric. Its use is widespread in families and care settings where gentle skin protection and relief are needed.

Prepare Skin: Cleanse and dry the affected area thoroughly before application. For nappy rash, this should be done at every nappy change; make sure the skin is free from moisture.

Apply Cream: Gently apply a thin, even layer of Drapolene Cream to the irritated area, paying particular attention to skin folds and creased areas.

Frequency:

• Babies (Nappy Rash): Apply at each nappy change.

• Adults (Urinary Dermatitis): Apply regularly to clean, dry skin as part of daily care.

• Minor Burns/Sunburn/Weather Irritation: Apply as needed to soothe affected areas.

Monitor Progress: If symptoms do not improve within a few days, appear to worsen or new symptoms develop, consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Active Ingredients:

• Benzalkonium chloride 0.01% w/w – mild antiseptic to help stop bacteria growing on the skin.

• Cetrimide 0.2% w/w – antiseptic compound that supports cleansing and reduces bacterial growth.

Other Ingredients:

• White soft paraffin – forms protective barrier on the skin.

• Wool fat (purified lanolin) – emollient to soothe and hydrate.

• Cetyl alcohol / Cetostearyl alcohol – emollients and stabilisers.

• Chlorocresol – preservative; may cause irritation in sensitive individuals.

• Polawax, Amaranth (E123) and Purified Water – cream base components.

These components contribute to a smooth, pink cream formulation designed for delicate and irritated skin, suitable for repeated use as directed.

Warnings & Precautions

• For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

• Hypersensitivity: Do not use if you or your child are allergic to benzalkonium chloride, cetrimide, lanolin (wool fat), cetyl alcohol, chlorocresol or any other ingredient. Allergic reactions may include rash, redness or itching.

• Fire Hazard: Do not smoke or go near naked flames after applying Drapolene Cream. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings, etc.) that has been in contact with cream may burn more easily, even after washing.

• Broken Skin: Drapolene Cream is intended for intact skin; avoid applying to broken or severely damaged skin unless directed by a healthcare professional.

• Storage: Store below 25 °C and keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the tube.

Possible Side Effects

• Skin irritation such as redness or itching can occur but is not common.

• Allergic reactions may manifest as rash or contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals; discontinue use and seek advice from a pharmacist or clinician.
