Condoms can help reduce the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) when used correctly every time.

1. Check the expiry date and that the foil is sealed and undamaged.
2. Open carefully at the notch. Avoid nails, teeth, scissors or jewellery.
3. With the condom the right way up, pinch the teat end to remove air and leave space.
4. Place on the tip of the erect penis and roll down to the base.
5. After ejaculation, hold the condom at the base and withdraw while still erect.
6. Wrap and dispose of in a bin. Do not flush.

Lubricant guidance

• If extra lubricant is needed, use water-based or silicone-based lubricant suitable for condoms. Oil-based products can damage latex and make condoms more likely to split.

• Condom material: Natural rubber latex (transparent).
