Description
Galpharm Cold Sore Cream 2 g is a topical antiviral treatment designed to help reduce the severity and duration of cold sore outbreaks caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). Each tube contains aciclovir 5% w/w, a well-established antiviral agent that works by inhibiting viral replication at the site of infection, helping to speed up healing of cold sore blisters while relieving associated discomfort such as itching, redness and burning.
This lightweight, off-white cream is suitable for application to cold sores on the lips and surrounding facial skin and is ideal for use at the first sign of tingling or itching, which typically signals the onset of a cold sore.

How to Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Wash hands before and after use to reduce the spread of virus.
• Apply a thin film of cream to the affected area and surrounding skin at the first sign of a cold sore (e.g., tingling, itching or redness).
• Repeat up to five times daily, leaving at least four hours between applications, for five days.
• If the cold sore has not healed after five days, you may continue treatment for up to an additional five days (total 10 days maximum).
• Avoid applying inside the mouth, eyes or mucous membranes.
• Always follow directions on the enclosed patient leaflet or consult a clinician or pharmacist if unsure.

Warnings & Precautions
• For external use only. Do not apply in the eyes, inside the mouth or on broken skin beyond the cold sore blister areas.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• Use only as directed; do not exceed the recommended frequency or duration of treatment.
• If a cold sore worsens or fails to improve within 10 days, seek advice from a clinician or pharmacist.
• Consult a clinician or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or immunocompromised.
• Avoid contact with eyes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Possible Side Effects
Like all topical treatments, side effects may occur, though not everyone experiences them:
• Mild irritation, stinging or burning at the application site may occur.
• Redness or dryness around the area of application is possible.
• Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling can occur — discontinue use and seek medical attention if this happens.
