GoldenEye 0.1% w/v Eye Drops Solution - 10ml

GoldenEye 0.1% w/v Eye Drops Solution (10ml) is an antiseptic eye drop containing propamidine isetionate 0.1% w/v. It is used to treat minor eye or eyelid infections such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).

The drops help control infection caused by bacteria and can be used for short-term treatment when symptoms are mild.

When to seek advice

• Speak to a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 2 days.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as advised by a healthcare professional.

Dose

• Apply 1–2 drops into each affected eye, up to 4 times daily (about every 3–4 hours through the day).
• If not improving after 2 days, stop and seek advice.

How to apply

1. Wash hands before and after using the drops.
2. Remove the cap.
3. Tilt head back.
4. Without touching the eye with the dropper tip, instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s).
5. Replace the cap firmly after use.

If you miss a dose

• Use the drops as directed and then continue as normal.

Storage after opening

• Do not store above 25°C.
• Discard within 4 weeks of first opening. 

Active ingredient: Propamidine isetionate 0.1% w/v.

Other ingredients: Sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride solution, purified water, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment).

Do not use

• If allergic to propamidine isetionate or any ingredient.
• If pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• If you wear contact lenses (unless specifically advised by a clinician, and follow the lens guidance below).

Stop use and seek urgent advice if

Do not use and speak to a doctor/pharmacist straight away if you have any of the following:

• Eye pain (more than gritty/sore), or pain/swelling around the eye or face
• Vision changes (loss/reduced/blurred vision or halos)
• Too painful to open the eye, cloudy eye, injured eye, foreign body/chemical splash suspected
• Recent eye surgery/laser (last 6 months) or you are already using other eye drops/ointment

Contact lens warning

• Do not wear contact lenses while using the drops.
• Soft lenses: wait 24 hours after finishing before restarting (benzalkonium chloride can discolour soft lenses).

Possible side effects

• Stinging or burning, irritation or itching in/around the eye.
• Skin inflammation or skin rash.
• If side effects occur, or if vision becomes disturbed or symptoms worsen, stop use and seek advice.

Driving and machinery

• May cause temporary blurred vision after use. Do not drive or use machinery until vision is clear.

If swallowed

• If the contents are swallowed, contact a doctor or go to A&E, taking the container with you.
