Product Overview
Hirudoid Gel 50g is a cooling, non-greasy topical medicine used to help reduce bruising, swelling and inflammation, and to relieve symptoms associated with superficial vein conditions. Suitable for adults and children when used as directed.
Description
Hirudoid Gel 50 g is a topical medicinal product designed to help reduce bruising, swelling and inflammation caused by injury, trauma, sports strain or surgery. It is also used to relieve pain, tenderness and heaviness associated with superficial vein conditions, such as superficial thrombophlebitis or varicose vein discomfort.
The active ingredient, heparinoid, works locally by improving blood flow in the affected area and helping the body break down and reabsorb small blood clots and inflammatory fluids beneath the skin. This supports faster healing and helps ease discomfort.
The gel formulation is:
- Fast-absorbing
- Non-greasy
- Cooling and soothing on application
This makes Hirudoid Gel particularly suitable for use during the day, on larger areas, or where a lighter texture is preferred.
How to Use
Adults, the elderly and children:
- Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2–3 times daily, or as advised by a healthcare professional.
Application guidance:
- Gently massage the gel into the skin unless the area is painful, in which case apply lightly without rubbing.
- Wash hands before and after use.
- Use regularly for best results.
UK pharmacy-aligned advice:
- For external use only.
- If symptoms do not improve within a few days, or worsen, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
- Always read the enclosed Patient Information Leaflet before use.
