Description
Hydromol® Bath & Shower Emollient is a bath and shower additive designed to lubricate, soften and moisturise dry skin. It leaves a light protective film on the skin surface to help reduce moisture loss and relieve itching, and it can also be used instead of soap.
It is used for the management of dry skin in conditions where dryness is a feature, including:
- Eczema / dermatitis
- Ichthyosis (hereditary dry skin)
- Senile pruritus (itching in older age)
Suitable for all ages, including infants.

How to Use
For external use only. Hydromol Bath & Shower Emollient should always be added to water or applied to wet skin.
Bath use
- Adults, children and elderly: Add 1–3 inner capfuls to a 20cm (8 inch) bath of warm water. Soak for 10–15 minutes.
- Infants: Add ½–2 inner capfuls to a small bath of warm water.
Shower / sponge wash use (soap substitute)
- Pour a small quantity onto a wet sponge or flannel, apply to wet skin, then rinse and pat dry.
How often
- May be used as often as required. If you’ve been advised by a doctor or nurse, follow their directions.
If you use too much
- Wash off any excess with warm water.
Ingredients
Hydromol Bath & Shower Emollient contains the oils light liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate.

- PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate
- Iso-octyl stearate
- Isopropyl myristate
- Ethoxylated alcohol (C12–C14)

Side Effects & Warnings
Do not use
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to light liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any of the other ingredients.
Take care in bath/shower
- This product can make surfaces slippery. Take care to avoid slipping in the bath or shower.
Eyes
- Avoid contact with eyes. If it gets into the eyes, rinse well with water.
Using with other skin treatments
- Tell a healthcare professional if you use other medicines applied to the skin, as they may interfere with each other.
If irritation occurs
- If your condition worsens or you develop irritation, itching or rash, stop using and seek advice.
Fire risk warning (important for all emollients)
Emollients can transfer onto clothing, bedding and dressings. Fabric with dried-on emollient can catch fire more easily and burn more intensely.
- Keep away from naked flames and do not smoke near treated fabric.
- Wash clothing/bedding regularly to reduce build-up.
Storage
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
- Do not store above 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
