Description
Naproxen 250mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets (56 tablets) are a prescription-only non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). They are used to reduce pain and inflammation in conditions such as:
- Joint conditions (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis)
- Muscle and bone disorders
- Painful periods
- Attacks of gout
The gastro-resistant (enteric) coating helps the tablet pass through the stomach before dissolving further down the gut, which may help reduce stomach irritation in some people.
Pack size: 56 tablets (commonly 4 × 14).
How to Use
Always take exactly as directed on the dispensing label.
How to take
- Take naproxen with or just after food.
- Swallow gastro-resistant tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
- Take doses evenly spaced through the day as prescribed.
Typical adult dosing patterns (guide only, prescription may differ)
- Joint conditions: 500mg to 1,000mg/day in 1–2 doses.
- Muscle/bone pain and period pain: 500mg at first, then 250mg every 6–8 hours as needed.
- Gout attack: 750mg, then 250mg every 8 hours until settled.
If you miss a dose: take it when you remember unless it’s nearly time for the next dose. Do not double up.

Other ingredients
- Methacrylic acid–ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), lactose, magnesium stearate, maize starch, crospovidone, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, triethyl citrate, titanium dioxide (E171), potassium sorbate (E202), sodium citrate (E331), xanthan gum (E415), hydroxypropyl cellulose (E463), purified talc (E553), beeswax.

Side Effects & Warnings
Key warnings (NSAID)
- Take with/after food and use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time as advised.
- Do not take with other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen/aspirin for pain) unless advised.
Do not take and seek advice if you:
- Have (or have had) a stomach ulcer or GI bleeding, or have inflammatory bowel disease.
- Have had wheezing/asthma or allergic reactions triggered by aspirin/NSAIDs.
- Have significant kidney, liver or heart problems, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- Are pregnant, especially later in pregnancy (follow prescriber advice).
Stop and get urgent help if you develop:
- Signs of GI bleeding: black/tarry stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain.
- Severe allergy: swelling of face/lips/throat, wheeze, breathing difficulty.
- Severe skin reactions: widespread rash, blistering/peeling.
- Chest pain, sudden breathlessness, weakness on one side or slurred speech.
Common side effects can include: indigestion/heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness.
