Nurofen 200mg - 96 Tablets

Nurofen 200mg – 96 Tablets contain ibuprofen 200mg, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps relieve pain, reduce inflammation (swelling) and lower temperature.

Used for short-term relief of:

• Headaches and migraine pain
• Dental pain and neuralgia
• Period pain
• Rheumatic, muscular and back pain
• Feverishness and symptoms of cold and flu

Pack size: 96 tablets (also supplied in other pack sizes; not all pack sizes are marketed). 

Always read the leaflet before use. For oral use and short-term use only. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed to relieve symptoms.

Dosage

Adults, the elderly, and children/adolescents aged 12 to 18 years:

• Take 1 or 2 tablets with water, up to three times a day as required
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses
• Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours
• Do not give to children under 12 years

How long to take

• Ages 12–18: if needed for more than 3 days, or if symptoms worsen, seek medical advice
• Adults: seek advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 10 days

If you take too many

Get medical advice straight away if you take more than the recommended dose (even if you feel well). 

Active ingredient (per tablet):

• Ibuprofen 200mg

Other ingredients:

Sucrose, Sodium Citrate, Talc, Croscarmellose Sodium, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Silicon Dioxide, Acacia, Carmellose Sodium, Sodium Laurilsulphate, Macrogol and Black Ink (contains Shellac, Iron Oxide Black (E172) and Propylene Glycol).

Important ingredient info:

• Contains sucrose (if you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, speak to a healthcare professional before use).
• Contains sodium 13.71mg per tablet (about 0.69% of the recommended maximum daily intake for an adult). 

Do not take if you:

• Are allergic to ibuprofen, any ingredients, aspirin or other NSAID painkillers
• Have (or have had) a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding, or have had stomach bleeding/perforation with NSAIDs
• Have had worsening of asthma, rash, itchy runny nose or facial swelling after ibuprofen/aspirin/NSAIDs
• Are taking other NSAIDs, or aspirin above 75mg daily (if you take low-dose aspirin up to 75mg daily, ask for advice before use)
• Have severe liver or kidney problems
• Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
• Are under 12 years old

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

Have or have had asthma, kidney/heart/liver/bowel problems, high cholesterol, a previous heart attack or stroke, ulcerative colitis/Crohn’s disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), are a smoker, are dehydrated, or are in the first 6 months of pregnancy.

Infection: ibuprofen can mask signs of infection (such as fever and pain). Seek advice if symptoms persist or worsen.

Stop taking and get urgent medical help if you develop:

• Signs of stomach/intestinal bleeding (vomiting blood, black tarry stools, blood in stools)
• Severe allergic reaction (wheezing/breathing difficulty, swelling of face/tongue/throat, severe dizziness)
• Severe skin reactions (blistering/peeling rash, mouth ulcers, widespread rash with fever)
• Signs of kidney problems (changes in urine, swelling especially legs/ankles)

Possible side effects

Common examples include indigestion, stomach pain, nausea. More serious effects (rare) can include ulcers/bleeding, severe skin reactions, worsening asthma, and cardiovascular effects, particularly with higher doses or longer use. Side effects can be reported via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
