Nurofen Plus 200mg/12.8mg - 32 Tablets

Nurofen Plus 200mg/12.8mg Tablets (32) are a pharmacy medicine for the short-term treatment of acute, moderate pain when other painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone have not relieved symptoms.

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Ibuprofen 200mg (an anti-inflammatory painkiller)
• Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12.8mg (an opioid painkiller)

Suitable for short-term relief of moderate pain such as headache, migraine, dental pain, period pain, backache, rheumatic and muscular pain, and neuralgia (where appropriate and when simpler painkillers have not worked).

Important: This medicine contains codeine and can cause addiction. Use for a maximum of 3 days at a time. 

Always use exactly as described in the leaflet or as advised by your pharmacist.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over:

• Take 1–2 tablets with water.
• If needed, repeat every 4 to 6 hours.
• Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.

Important use limits:

• Do not take for more than 3 days. If pain persists or worsens, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.

How to take:

• Swallow tablets whole with water.
• Taking with food or milk may reduce stomach upset

Active ingredients (per tablet):

• Ibuprofen 200mg
• Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12.8mg

Other ingredients include:

Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, pregelatinised starch, hypromellose, Opaspray white, talc.

Key warnings:

• Contains codeine. Taking codeine regularly for more than 3 days can lead to addiction and withdrawal symptoms when you stop.
• May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or reduced alertness. Do not drive or use tools/machinery if affected.
• Do not take with other medicines containing ibuprofen, aspirin (for pain relief), other NSAIDs, or any other codeine/opioid painkiller.

Do not use:

• In children under 12 years.
• If you are allergic to ibuprofen, codeine, aspirin/NSAIDs, or any ingredients.
• If you have (or have had) a stomach ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation related to NSAIDs.

Speak to a pharmacist or doctor before use if you:

• Have asthma or allergies, kidney/liver problems, heart problems, high blood pressure, a history of stomach/bowel disease, or are taking regular medicines (including blood thinners).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

• Do not use in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a pharmacist/doctor before use.

Possible side effects:

• Common: indigestion/stomach discomfort, feeling sleepy, constipation.
• Stop use and seek urgent medical help if you develop signs of an allergic reaction (wheezing, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, severe rash) or signs of stomach bleeding (vomiting blood, black/tarry stools).
