Description
Nytol One-A-Night 20 Tablets is a Pharmacy Medicine (P) containing diphenhydramine hydrochloride 50mg, a sedating antihistamine used for the short-term relief of temporary insomnia.
It is suitable for adults and young people aged 16 years and over who are experiencing occasional difficulty falling asleep.
Diphenhydramine works by producing drowsiness, helping you fall asleep more easily. Nytol One-A-Night should be used only for short-term, temporary sleep disturbance and not as a long-term solution.

How to Use
Directions for Use:
- Adults and children aged 16 years and over:
- Take one tablet (50mg) with water 20 minutes before bedtime.
- Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.
- Do not use for more than 2 weeks continuously without medical advice.
If symptoms persist, consult your GP or pharmacist.
Ingredients
Active Ingredient (per tablet):
- Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 50 mg – a well-established antihistamine that blocks histamine activity to promote drowsiness and help ease the transition into sleep.
Other ingredients (excipients):
- Anhydrous lactose
- Microcrystalline cellulose
- Maize starch
- Stearic acid
- Silicon dioxide.
Form: Round, film-coated tablets designed for oral administration.
Side Effects & Warnings
Important Safety Information:
- May cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
- Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
- Not suitable for children under 16 years.
- Do not take if you:
- Have glaucoma
- Have prostate problems causing urinary retention
- Have a blockage in the stomach or gut
- Speak to a pharmacist or GP before use if you:
- Have asthma, bronchitis or breathing problems
- Have liver or kidney problems
- Are elderly (higher risk of confusion)
- Are taking other sedatives, antihistamines or antidepressants (including MAOIs)
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
Not recommended unless advised by a healthcare professional.
