Opticrom 2% Eye drops - 10 ml

Opticrom Allergy 2% w/v Eye Drops contain sodium cromoglicate, an anti-allergic medicine used for the prevention and treatment of eye allergies (allergic conjunctivitis). It works by helping to stop the release of substances in the eyes that can trigger allergy symptoms.

Helps relieve allergy signs such as:

• Itchy eyes
• Watery eyes
• Red or inflamed eyes
• Puffy eyelids

Suitable for allergies that occur:

• All year round (perennial allergic conjunctivitis, e.g., house dust mites, pets)
• Seasonally (hayfever/pollen allergy)

Pack size: 10ml multi-dose bottle.

Always use exactly as described in the leaflet or as your pharmacist/doctor has told you.

Dose (Adults and children):

• 1–2 drops into each eye, 4 times a day, or as directed by your doctor.

Step-by-step:

1. Wash hands.
2. Check the tamper-evident seal is intact before first use.
3. Remove cap. Tilt head back.
4. Pull down lower eyelid and instil 1–2 drops without touching the eye with the dropper tip.
5. Close the eye, wipe excess with a clean tissue, recap immediately.
6. Repeat for the other eye if needed.

Missed dose: Use when remembered, then continue as normal. Do not use a double dose.

How long to use:

• Speak to a doctor/pharmacist if your eyes do not feel better or feel worse after 2 days.
• If used more often than recommended or continuously for more than 3 months, contact your doctor.

After opening:

• Discard 4 weeks after opening and do not store above 25°C after opening. 

Active ingredient:

• Sodium cromoglicate 20mg per 1ml (2.0% w/v). One drop contains 0.7mg sodium cromoglicate.

Other ingredients:

• Disodium edetate
• Benzalkonium chloride
• Water for injections

Contains preservative: Benzalkonium chloride 100 micrograms per 1ml.

Do not use if:

• You are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any ingredient. Signs can include rash, breathing/swallowing problems, swelling of face/lips/throat, or worsening redness/itching/swelling of the eye/eyelid.

Contact lenses (important):

• The leaflet advises: if you wear soft contact lenses, talk to a doctor/pharmacist, and you should not wear contact lenses while using these drops.
• Benzalkonium chloride may be absorbed by soft lenses and may discolour them; remove lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before putting them back.

Driving/machines:

• Temporary blurred vision can occur straight after use; do not drive/use machinery until vision is clear.

Possible side effects:

• Short-lasting stinging or burning and blurred vision immediately after drops
• Mild eye irritation

Stop using and seek medical advice urgently if:

• Itching/redness/swelling gets worse (possible allergy).
• You develop significant eye pain, marked redness, swelling, discharge, or vision changes.
