Product Overview
Anti-allergy eye drops with sodium cromoglicate 2% to soothe itchy, watery, red eyes and puffy eyelids caused by hayfever. Suitable for adults and children aged 6+
Description
Optrex Hay Fever Relief Drops (10ml) are anti-allergy eye drops containing sodium cromoglicate 2% w/v for the relief of hayfever-related eye symptoms (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis), including:
- Itchy eyes
- Watery eyes
- Red or inflamed eyes
- Puffy eyelids
Sodium cromoglicate works by helping to prevent the release of natural substances in the eyes that trigger an allergic reaction, providing targeted relief during periods of high pollen. For best control, use regularly while symptoms or high pollen levels are expected.
Pharmacy advice (when to self-treat): You should be confident symptoms are due to hayfever. Hayfever eye symptoms usually affect both eyes, occur at the right time of year, and may be accompanied by a runny/blocked nose. If only one eye is affected, vision is affected, or symptoms occur at an unusual time of year, seek advice before use.
How to Use
For use in the eyes only.
Dose
- Adults (including the elderly) and children over 6 years: instil 1–2 drops into each eye, 4 times daily.
- Children under 6 years: do not use.
How to apply (SOP-style)
- Wash hands.
- Before first use, check the tamper-evident seal is intact (a small gap between cap and bottle can be normal on unopened bottles).
- Remove cap, tilt head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid.
- Squeeze 1–2 drops into the lower lid without touching the eye with the dropper tip.
- Close eye, wipe excess with a clean tissue, recap immediately. Repeat for the other eye.
If you forget a dose: use when remembered. If it’s nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use a double dose.
