Description
Otrivin Child Nasal Drops 10ml is a decongestant nasal medicine formulated to provide rapid relief from a blocked or stuffy nose in children aged 6 to 11 years. It works by gently constricting swollen blood vessels in the nasal lining, helping to reduce congestion and restore easier breathing.
Otrivine Child Nasal Drops are suitable for nasal congestion caused by:
- Colds
- Sinusitis
- Hay fever and other allergic rhinitis
The drop formulation allows for targeted application, making it particularly suitable for younger children who may struggle with sprays.

How to Use
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as advised by a pharmacist or GP.
Dosage:
- Children aged 6–11 years:
- Apply 2–3 drops into each nostril, once or twice daily
Administration:
- Gently blow the nose before use
- Tilt the child’s head back slightly
- Place the required number of drops into each nostril
- Keep the head tilted back briefly to allow the drops to work
Important usage advice:
- Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days
- Leave sufficient time between doses
- If symptoms persist, seek medical advice
Ingredients
Active ingredient:
- Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.05% w/v
Other ingredients include:
- Sodium chloride
- Sodium dihydrogen phosphate
- Disodium phosphate
- Benzalkonium chloride
- Purified water

Side Effects & Warnings
Important warnings:
- Do not exceed the stated dose
- Do not use continuously for more than 7 days, as this may cause rebound congestion
Do not use:
- In children under 6 years
- If your child is allergic to xylometazoline or any of the ingredients
- After recent nasal surgery unless advised by a doctor
Warnings & precautions:
- Consult a pharmacist or GP before use if your child has heart problems, high blood pressure, thyroid disease or diabetes
- Avoid sharing the bottle to reduce the risk of infection
Possible side effects (uncommon):
- Mild burning or irritation in the nose
- Dryness of the nasal lining
- Sneezing
Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling or allergic reactions occur.
Storage:
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children
- Store below 25°C
- Use within the period stated on the packaging after opening
