Description
Panadol Advance 500mg Tablets contain paracetamol, a painkiller that also helps reduce temperature (fever). They are faster absorbed than standard paracetamol tablets and provide effective relief from common everyday pain.
Suitable for the relief of:
- Headache and tension headache
- Migraine
- Backache
- Rheumatic and muscle pain
- Toothache
- Period pain
- Sore throat
- Fever, aches and pains of colds and flu
- Pain due to mild arthritis
Pack size: 16 tablets.
How to Use
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as advised by your pharmacist/doctor.
Adults (including the elderly) and children aged 16 years and over:
- Swallow 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed
- Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours
Children aged 10–15 years:
- Give 1 tablet every 4–6 hours as needed
- Do not give more than 4 tablets in 24 hours
- Do not give for more than 3 days at a time unless your doctor tells you to
Important dosing rules:
- Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
- Do not give to children under 10 years
If symptoms continue or your headache becomes persistent, seek medical advice.
Ingredients
Active ingredient (per tablet):
- Paracetamol 500mg
Other ingredients:
Pregelatinised starch, calcium carbonate, alginic acid, crospovidone, povidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica.
Tablet coating:
Opadry white and carnauba wax
Side Effects & Warnings
Contains paracetamol. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing medicines (including some cold/flu remedies or sleep aids).
Do not take if:
- You have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol or any ingredient listed.
Speak to a doctor/pharmacist before use if you:
- Have liver or kidney problems
- Are underweight
- Regularly drink alcohol
- Have mild arthritis and need painkillers every day
Important safety warning (metabolic acidosis risk):
If you have severe infection/illness (including severe renal impairment or sepsis), malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, or you are also taking flucloxacillin, a serious condition called metabolic acidosis has been reported with prolonged regular paracetamol use or when taken with flucloxacillin. Seek urgent medical advice if you develop deep/rapid breathing, drowsiness, nausea/vomiting, or loss of appetite.
Taking other medicines:
Talk to a healthcare professional if you take metoclopramide or domperidone, colestyramine, warfarin or other anticoagulants, or flucloxacillin.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Talk to a healthcare professional before use if pregnant. This product can be taken while breastfeeding.
Possible side effects (stop and seek medical advice immediately):
- Severe allergic reactions (rash/itching, swelling of mouth/face, shortness of breath)
- Skin rash or peeling, or mouth ulcers (very rare serious skin reactions reported)
- Breathing problems (more likely if this has happened with ibuprofen/aspirin)
- Unexplained bruising or bleeding
- Nausea, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, yellowing of eyes/skin
Overdose:
Seek immediate medical help if you take too many tablets, even if you feel well (risk of delayed, serious liver damage).
Storage: Store below 30°C. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
