Product Overview
Proton pump inhibitor capsules with esomeprazole 20 mg to relieve heartburn, acid regurgitation and reflux symptoms in adults. 14-capsule pack for short-term control.
Description
Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control 20 mg – 14 Capsules are a gastro-resistant capsule formulation designed for the short-term management of frequent heartburn and acid reflux symptoms in adults. These capsules contain 20 mg esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces, helping to ease burning sensations in the chest, acid regurgitation and discomfort after eating.
The once-daily capsules are intended for a 14-day course, with up to 24 hours of effective acid suppression per dose. Unlike antacids, which neutralise acid already present, esomeprazole targets the underlying acid production mechanism for more sustained relief.
How to Use
Adults aged 18 years and over:
- Take one 20 mg capsule once daily with a glass of water, at about the same time each day. The capsule may be taken with or without food.
- Swallow the capsule whole. Do not chew, crush or break it, as it is designed to resist stomach acid and release in the intestine for optimal effect.
UK pharmacy compliance guidance:
- This medicine is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn; it may take 2–3 days of consecutive dosing before full effect is felt.
- Do not use this treatment for more than 14 days consecutively without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. If symptoms persist or worsen after 14 days, speak to a healthcare professional.
- Suitable for adults only (18 +). Not recommended for children or adolescents under 18.
