Regaine for Women Once a Day Scalp Foam - 73ml

Regaine for Women Once a Day Scalp Foam is a topical medicine containing minoxidil 5% w/w for the treatment of common female pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in women aged 18 to 65 years. It works by helping to prevent further hair loss and support hair re-growth by aiding blood flow to hair follicles on the scalp.

• Once-daily foam format designed to be applied directly to the scalp (not the hair).
• Dose: 1 g per day (about half a capful) across the affected scalp areas.
• Time to see results: you may need to use it daily for 12–24 weeks before noticing new hair growth; continued use is needed to maintain regrowth.
• Pack size: 73ml can, described as enough for a 2 month supply when used once daily as directed.

Who can use it

• Women aged 18–65 years with gradual thinning consistent with female pattern hair loss.

How to apply (once daily)

1. Make sure hair and scalp are completely dry before use.
2. Open the cap as directed on the can/leaflet.
3. Hold can upside down and dispense foam onto fingers (or a non-absorbent surface if preferred). Total daily amount must not exceed 1 g (half a capful).
4. Part the hair to expose the thinning areas and apply the foam to the scalp, then gently massage in.
5. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
6. Allow the foam to dry completely (especially before bed).

If you miss a dose

• If you miss one or two applications, continue as normal. Do not apply extra to make up for it.

Important dose note

• Do not use more than once daily. Using more will not speed up regrowth and may increase side effects.

Active ingredient

• Minoxidil 50 mg per 1 g (equivalent to 5% w/w).

Other ingredients

• Ethanol (alcohol), purified water, butylated hydroxytoluene (E321), lactic acid, citric acid (anhydrous), glycerol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, propane, butane, isobutane. 

For external use on the scalp only. Do not apply to other areas of the body. If accidentally applied, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

Do not use

• If you are male.
• If you are under 18 or over 65.
• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
• If you have high blood pressure.
• If hair loss is sudden/patchy, due to unknown causes, due to childbirth, or related to drug treatment.
• If you have scalp conditions (including psoriasis) or a damaged/sunburnt scalp, a shaved scalp, or a dressing/bandage on the scalp.
• If you are using certain scalp medicines/products (examples listed in the leaflet).

Speak to a doctor/pharmacist before use

• If you have heart disease, abnormal heart rhythms/rates, angina/chest pain or circulation disorders.
• If you are taking certain blood pressure medicines (vasodilators).

Stop use and get urgent medical help if you develop

• Chest pain.
• Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing/swallowing.

Other important warnings

• Extremely flammable aerosol: use and dispose of carefully.
• Contains alcohol (ethanol) which may sting on damaged skin and can irritate eyes; avoid contact with eyes/mouth/broken skin and rinse well with cool water if contact occurs.
• Some ingredients may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).
• If minoxidil passes into the bloodstream it may cause effects related to low blood pressure (e.g., fast heartbeat/palpitations, dizziness/faintness, swelling of hands/feet, persistent scalp irritation). Stop and seek advice if these occur.
• Keep children away from application sites: rare reports describe excessive hair growth in infants after skin contact with treated areas; take care to prevent contact.
• May cause dizziness/low blood pressure; if affected, do not drive or use machinery.
• Store out of the sight and reach of children; do not store above 25°C.
