Solpadeine Max Tablets - 24 Tablets

Solpadeine Max Tablets (24) are for the short-term treatment of acute moderate pain when other painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone have not relieved symptoms.

Each tablet contains two pain-relieving ingredients that work in different ways:

• Paracetamol 500mg for pain relief
• Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12.8mg (an opioid analgesic) to enhance pain relief

They can be used for short-term relief of: migraine, headache, dental pain, period pain, strains & sprains, backache, arthritic & rheumatic pain, and sciatica (when simpler pain relief hasn’t worked).

This medicine contains codeine and is for a maximum of 3 days use at a time. 

Always use exactly as described in the leaflet or as advised by your pharmacist.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over:

• Swallow 2 tablets every 4 hours as needed.
• Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
• Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.
• Do not give to children under 12 years.
• Do not take for more than 3 days. If you need pain relief for longer than 3 days, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.

Important: If you take too many tablets, seek urgent medical advice immediately, even if you feel well, due to the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.

Active ingredients (per tablet):

• Paracetamol 500mg
• Codeine Phosphate Hemihydrate 12.8mg

Other ingredients:

Starch pregelatinised, povidone, potassium sorbate (E202), maize starch, talc, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, macrogol, quinoline yellow (E104), erythrosine (E127), titanium dioxide (E171).

Codeine safety (important):

• Contains codeine, which can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days. Stopping after prolonged use may cause withdrawal symptoms.
• If you take painkillers for headaches for more than 3 days, it can make headaches worse.

Do not take if:

• You have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, codeine, other opioid painkillers, or any ingredients.
• You are taking any other medicines containing paracetamol or codeine.

Speak to a doctor/pharmacist before use if:

• You have liver or kidney disease, including alcoholic liver disease.
• You have bowel problems (including blockage) or you have had your gall bladder removed.
• You have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars (contains lactose).
• You are taking other medicines, especially metoclopramide/domperidone, colestyramine, MAOIs, medicines that make you drowsy, or warfarin/other anticoagulants (seek advice if needing daily pain relief).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

• If pregnant, speak to a doctor before use.
• Do not use while breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor.

Possible side effects:

• Constipation can occur.
• Stop taking and seek urgent medical help if you get: severe allergic reaction (rash/itching, swelling of mouth/face, shortness of breath), skin peeling, breathing problems, unexplained bruising/bleeding, or signs of liver problems (loss of appetite, nausea, yellowing of skin/eyes).
