Solpadeine Plus - 24 Soluble Tablets

Solpadeine Plus Soluble Tablets (24) are an effervescent (soluble) pain relief medicine for the short-term relief of moderate pain when other painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen alone have not relieved symptoms.

Each soluble tablet contains a triple-ingredient combination:

• Paracetamol 500mg (analgesic)
• Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 8mg (opioid analgesic)
• Caffeine 30mg (helps improve the effectiveness of paracetamol)

Common uses include short-term relief of: migraine, headache, dental pain, period pain, strains & sprains, backache and rheumatic pain.

Important: This medicine contains codeine, which can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days. Taking painkillers for headaches for more than 3 days can make headaches worse.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as advised by your pharmacist/doctor.

For oral use. Tablets must be dissolved in water before taking.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over:

• Dissolve 2 tablets in a full tumbler of water (200ml) and take every 4 hours as needed.
• Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
• Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours.
• Do not take for more than 3 days. If pain does not improve after 3 days, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.

Caffeine advice: Avoid too much caffeine from drinks (e.g., tea/coffee/energy drinks) as high caffeine intake can cause difficulty sleeping, shaking, or an uncomfortable feeling in the chest.

If you take too many: seek urgent medical advice immediately, even if you feel well (risk of serious harm).

Active ingredients (per soluble tablet): Paracetamol 500mg, Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 8mg, Caffeine 30mg.

Other ingredients: Sodium bicarbonate, sorbitol powder (E420), saccharin sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, citric acid, sodium carbonate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, silicone fluid.

Sodium content: Each tablet dose contains 854mg sodium (relevant if you are on a controlled sodium diet).

Codeine safety (important):

• Contains codeine. Taking codeine continuously for more than 3 days can lead to addiction and you may get withdrawal symptoms when you stop.
• If you take a painkiller for headaches for more than 3 days, it can make them worse.

Do not take if:

• You have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, caffeine, codeine, other opioid painkillers, or any ingredient.
• You are taking any other medicines containing paracetamol or codeine.
• You are under 12 years (risk of severe breathing problems).
• You are breastfeeding (codeine and morphine can pass into breast milk).
• For pain relief in children/adolescents (0–18) after tonsil/adenoid removal due to obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome.
• You know you metabolise codeine very rapidly to morphine.

Speak to a doctor/pharmacist before use if:

• You have liver or kidney disease (including alcoholic liver disease), bowel problems (including blockage), have had your gall bladder removed, have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, or you are on a controlled sodium diet.
• You are taking prescribed medicines, especially metoclopramide/domperidone, cholestyramine, MAOIs in the last 2 weeks, sedatives/antidepressants/alcohol, or warfarin/anticoagulants (bleeding risk).

Driving and alcohol:

• May cause sleepiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that can make you drowsy unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Possible side effects:

• Constipation, nausea/vomiting, dizziness/drowsiness can occur; stop and seek urgent medical help if you develop signs of morphine toxicity (slow/shallow breathing, confusion, extreme sleepiness, very small pupils) or a serious allergic reaction.

Storage: Store below 30°C and keep out of the sight and reach of children.
