Product Overview
Sugar-free trimethoprim antibiotic oral suspension 50mg/5ml for UTIs and other susceptible infections when prescribed. 100ml.
Description
Trimethoprim 50mg/5ml Oral Suspension (Sugar Free) 100ml is a prescription-only antibiotic used to treat or prevent bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), in adults and children when prescribed.
This liquid formulation can be helpful for people who find tablets difficult to swallow. It is a white, opalescent, viscous oral suspension supplied in a 100ml amber glass bottle.
How to Use
Always follow the dispensing label and the leaflet supplied with your pack.
How to take
- Shake the bottle gently before measuring each dose.
- Measure doses using an oral syringe or medicine spoon (not a kitchen teaspoon).
- Take doses at evenly spaced times (often morning and evening if twice daily).
- Finish the full course unless your prescriber tells you to stop.
Typical dosing information (guide only, may differ for your prescription)
- Adults with UTI are commonly prescribed 200mg twice daily; with this liquid (50mg/5ml), that dose equals 20ml twice daily.
- Doses for children are lower and depend on age/weight and kidney function; follow the label exactly.
If you miss a dose
- Take it when you remember unless it’s nearly time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose.
