Zirtek Allergy Relief - 30 Tablets

Zirtek Allergy Relief 10mg Tablets contain cetirizine dihydrochloride, an antihistamine that helps block the effects of histamine involved in allergic reactions. It relieves common allergy symptoms affecting the nose, eyes and skin.

Indicated for adults and children aged 6 years and over for:

• Hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and year-round allergies such as dust or pet allergies (perennial allergic rhinitis)
• Urticaria (hives) including swelling, redness and itchiness of the skin

Helps relieve:

• Sneezing
• Itchy, runny or blocked nose
• Itchy, red, watery eyes
• Itchy skin rashes and hives

Pack format: white, oblong film-coated tablets with breakline and Y-Y logo (30 tablets). 

For oral use. Swallow with a glass of liquid. The tablet can be divided into equal doses. Do not take more than one tablet per day (10mg total).

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over

• 1 tablet (10mg) once daily.
• If the tablets make you feel drowsy or dizzy, taking ½ tablet twice daily may be better than 1 tablet once daily.

Children aged 6 to 12 years

• ½ tablet (5mg) twice daily.

Children under 6 years

• Not suitable for this tablet formulation (dose adjustment not possible).

Renal (kidney) impairment

• If you have kidney problems, ask a doctor/pharmacist for advice. A lower dose may be recommended (for example 5mg once daily in moderate renal impairment).

If symptoms don’t improve

• Speak to a doctor if you do not feel better or feel worse after 3 days. 

Active ingredient (per film-coated tablet): Cetirizine dihydrochloride 10mg.

Other ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate; film coat Opadry Y-1-7000 (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose E464, titanium dioxide E171, macrogol 400).

Do not take Zirtek Allergy Relief if:

• You have end-stage kidney disease / severe renal failure requiring dialysis.
• You are allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any ingredient listed.

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if:

• You have kidney problems (dose adjustment may be needed).
• You have problems passing urine (for example prostate/bladder issues), epilepsy, or are at risk of convulsions.
• You are pregnant or breast-feeding. Cetirizine passes into breast milk; do not take while breast-feeding unless you have contacted a doctor.
• You have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, as the tablets contain lactose.

Alcohol

• It is recommended to avoid taking with alcohol.

Driving / machinery

• Studies show no evidence of impaired alertness at recommended doses, but monitor your response. If you feel drowsy or dizzy, do not drive or use machinery and do not exceed the recommended dose.

Allergy testing

• Antihistamines can affect test results. If you are scheduled for allergy testing, ask whether you should stop taking Zirtek for several days beforehand.

Possible side effects

Common: sleepiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue.

Rare/serious: allergic reactions including angioedema (swelling of face or throat). Stop taking and seek urgent medical advice if this happens.

Storage: Keep out of the sight and reach of children. No special storage conditions. Do not use after the expiry date.
