Adcal D3 - 56 Chewable Tablets

Adcal D3 Chewable Tablets are a pharmacy medicine designed to provide calcium and vitamin D3, two essential nutrients that work together to support normal bone and tooth strength, assist calcium absorption and contribute to healthy bone metabolism. Calcium is the principal mineral found in bone; vitamin D3 (colecalciferol) enhances the body’s ability to utilise calcium effectively, making this combination suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over who may need extra nutritional support due to age, dietary insufficiency, reduced sunlight exposure or clinical conditions such as osteoporosis.

Each chewable tablet contains a substantial dose of calcium carbonate and vitamin D3, formulated to be pleasant and easy to take without water thanks to its tutti-frutti or fruit flavour. These tablets are often recommended for long-term daily use to help maintain bone density and reduce fracture risk with consistent supplementation. 

Directions:

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: Chew 2 tablets daily — typically 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening with or after food.

• Do not swallow the tablets whole; chewing enhances absorption and tolerability.

• Use consistently each day to support ongoing bone and calcium needs.

Important Notes:

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.

• This product is intended for long-term nutritional support where clinically appropriate.

• If you miss a dose, take the next dose as normal — do not double up.

• Use only on professional advice where clinical bone disorders (like diagnosed osteoporosis) are present.

Active Ingredients (per chewable tablet):

• Calcium carbonate 1500 mg, equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium — contributes to normal bone and teeth health and normal neurotransmission.

• Vitamin D3 (colecalciferol) 400 IU (10 µg) — supports calcium absorption, bone health, immune function and muscle function.

Other Excipients:

Xylitol (E967), modified maize starch, sodium saccharin (E954), magnesium stearate, tutti-frutti (or fruit) flavouring (containing propylene glycol, E1520), and constituents of the vitamin D3 compound including DL-α-tocopherol, edible fats (including soya oil), gelatin, sucrose and corn starch.

Dietary Suitability:

• The product contains soya oil as part of the vitamin D3 component — not suitable for those with peanut or soya allergy.

• Pharmacy Medicine: Adcal D3 is a regulated supplement-medicine — use as advised by a doctor or pharmacist.

• Do Not Exceed the Recommended Dose. Excessive calcium or vitamin D3 intake can cause adverse effects.

• Age Restriction: Not suitable for children under 12 years.

• Allergies: Do not take if allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D3, peanut or soya (contains soya oil).

• Medical Conditions: Before use, talk to a doctor or pharmacist if you have kidney problems, hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium), hypercalciuria (high urinary calcium), sarcoidosis or any condition affecting vitamin D or calcium metabolism.

• Interactions: Calcium can interfere with absorption of other medicines including iron, bisphosphonates, tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolone antibiotics and thyroid medicines. Leave a gap of 2–4 hours between Adcal D3 and these medicines.

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Use only under medical supervision.

• Possible Side Effects: Mild gastrointestinal symptoms (constipation, bloating, nausea), rash, elevated calcium in blood/urine or other hypersensitivity reactions — if these occur, discontinue and seek advice.

• Monitoring: Long-term use may warrant periodic monitoring of serum calcium and kidney function by a clinician.

• Storage: Store below 25 °C, away from moisture and direct heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
