Brolene Eye Drops – 10ml

Brolene Eye Drops – 10ml are antiseptic eye drops containing propamidine isetionate 0.1% w/v. They belong to a group of medicines called disinfectants and antifungals and work by stopping the growth of bacteria, helping your body to fight off the infection.

Used for: minor infections of the eye or eyelid, where signs may include:

• Sore, red or inflamed eyes
• Stickiness or crust on the eyelids

Pack format: sterile solution in a 10ml plastic dropper bottle with a tamper-evident cap (an auto-drop device may be supplied separately).

For use in the eye(s) only.

Dose

• Instil 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye up to 4 times a day.
• Use for at least 2 days. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 2 days, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
• Do not stop just because the eye feels better; stopping early may allow the infection to return.

How to apply (clean technique)

1. Wash hands.
2. Remove cap and tilt head back.
3. Pull down the lower eyelid and squeeze 1–2 drops into the lower lid without touching the eye with the bottle tip.
4. Close the eye; wipe away excess with a clean tissue.
5. Replace the cap immediately.

If you forget a dose

• Use as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use a double dose.

Active ingredient:

• Propamidine isetionate 0.1% w/v

Other ingredients:

• Ammonium chloride
• Sodium chloride
• Benzalkonium chloride
• Sodium hydroxide
• Water for injections 

Do not use

• If you are allergic to propamidine isetionate or any ingredients (allergy signs may include rash, breathing/swallowing problems, swelling of lips/face/throat/tongue or around the eyes).

Contact lenses

• Do not wear contact lenses while using these drops.
• Contains benzalkonium chloride, which may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and may change their colour. Remove lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting.

Possible side effects

• Stop using and seek medical advice as soon as possible if you develop:
• Skin problems such as rash or itching around the eyes, or eyes become more red
• Stinging or burning sensation in the eye

Driving and machinery

• May cause blurred vision straight after use. Do not drive or use machines until vision is clear.

Storage / in-use shelf life

• Store below 25°C.
• Do not keep for more than 4 weeks after opening (hospital environments: 7 days after opening).
