Cetavlex Antiseptic Cream contains cetrimide 0.5% to help destroy germs and cleanse minor cuts, abrasions and minor burns, and soothe nappy rash. Apply liberally to the affected area; may be covered with a clean dressing. External use only. 50g.
Description
Cetavlex Antiseptic Cream – 50g contains cetrimide 0.5% w/w, an antiseptic ingredient that destroys germs to help cleanse and protect minor skin injuries.
Used to treat:
- Minor wounds and cuts
- Minor burns
- Abrasions
- Nappy rash
What it is: a white antiseptic cream supplied in a 50g tube.
How to Use
Always read the leaflet before use.
- For external use only.
- Apply the cream liberally to the affected area (unless instructed otherwise).
- In some cases it may be advisable to cover the wound or burn with a clean dressing after applying.
If you forget a dose: apply as soon as you remember, then carry on as before.
If swallowed accidentally: contact a doctor or nearest hospital.

Active ingredient:
- Cetrimide 0.5% w/w
Other ingredients:
- Cetostearyl alcohol
- Liquid paraffin
- Industrial methylated spirit
- Methyl-parahydroxybenzoate
- Propyl-parahydroxybenzoate
- Water
Side Effects & Warnings
Do not use
- If you are allergic/sensitive to any ingredients.
- With soap, as this can interfere with the action of the cream and make it less effective.
Take care
- Avoid application to the eyes and ears.
- If there is no improvement or symptoms worsen, stop use and seek medical advice.
Fire safety warning (important)
- Do not smoke or go near naked flames while using this product. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings) that has been in contact with the cream can burn more easily and is a serious fire hazard; washing may reduce build-up but may not remove it completely.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Cetavlex cream may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Possible side effects
- Some people may notice skin irritation or an allergic (itchy) reaction, especially when first applied. If this becomes troublesome, stop use and seek advice.
- Side effects can be reported via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
Storage note (use-by after opening): once opened, do not keep the tube for more than 28 days; store below 30°C.
