Description
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride 180 mg Film-Coated Tablets are a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of long-term allergic skin conditions.
This medicine is indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives) in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. It helps reduce symptoms such as itching, swelling, and skin rashes caused by allergic reactions.
Fexofenadine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance released during allergic responses, providing relief for up to 24 hours with once-daily dosing.
How to Use
- Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
- Take one tablet (180 mg) once daily.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably before a meal.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
This medicine usually begins to relieve symptoms within 1 hour and lasts for 24 hours.
If you miss a dose, take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
Ingredients
Active ingredient:
- Fexofenadine hydrochloride 180 mg per tablet
Other ingredients:
- Tablet core: Microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate
- Film coating: Hypromellose, povidone, titanium dioxide (E171), colloidal anhydrous silica, macrogol, iron oxide (E172)
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per tablet and is considered essentially sodium-free.

Do Not Take This Medicine If:
- You are allergic to fexofenadine or any of the other ingredients
Warnings & Precautions
- Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you:
- Have liver or kidney problems
- Have or have had heart disease
- Are elderly
- Indigestion remedies containing aluminium or magnesium may reduce absorption. Leave around 2 hours between taking fexofenadine and these products.
- Fexofenadine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, unless advised by a healthcare professional.
- Although non-drowsy, check how this medicine affects you before driving or operating machinery.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, fexofenadine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Common side effects (up to 1 in 10 people):
- Headache
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Dizziness
Uncommon side effects (up to 1 in 100 people):
- Tiredness
- Sleepiness
Serious side effects (seek immediate medical help):
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe allergic reactions
