Description
Germolene Antiseptic Cream – 55g is a dual-action first aid cream designed to help prevent infection and soothe pain in a wide range of minor skin injuries. It contains an antiseptic to help protect against infection and a local anaesthetic to gently numb discomfort at the site of injury.
Germolene is suitable for use on cuts, grazes, minor burns and scalds, insect bites and stings, spots and blisters, making it a useful addition to any home first aid kit. The smooth, easy-to-apply cream is suitable for adults and children, when used as directed.

How to Use
Directions for use (UK pharmacy guidance):
- Clean the affected area gently.
- Apply a thin layer of Germolene Antiseptic Cream to the skin.
- Use 1–3 times daily as required.
- Cover with a clean dressing if necessary.
General advice:
- For external use only.
- If symptoms worsen, signs of infection develop, or healing does not progress, seek advice from a pharmacist or GP.
- Suitable for adults and children when used according to the leaflet.
Ingredients
Active ingredients (w/w):
- Phenol 0.25% – antiseptic to help prevent infection
- Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.7% – local anaesthetic to help relieve pain
Other ingredients include:
Purified water, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, emulsifying wax, carbomer, sodium hydroxide and fragrance.

Side Effects & Warnings
Warnings & Precautions
- For external use only.
- Do not use on large or deep wounds, or on serious burns.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and nose.
- Do not use if you are allergic to lidocaine, phenol or any of the ingredients.
- If irritation or sensitivity occurs, stop use immediately.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Possible Side Effects
- Germolene is generally well tolerated when used as directed.
- Rarely, local skin irritation or allergic reactions (such as redness or itching) may occur.
If you experience severe irritation or signs of an allergic reaction, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
Storage
- Store below 25°C.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the tube or carton.
