Product Overview
Intensive, long-lasting lubrication for severe or persistent dry eyes. Preservative-free, phosphate-free 0.2% hyaluronic acid in a COMOD® multi-dose bottle. Suitable with contact lenses.
Description
Hycosan Extra 0.2% Eye Drops (7.5ml) are a sterile, preservative-free and phosphate-free solution for ocular use, designed for the intensive, therapeutic lubrication of the eye surface in more severe and persistent dry eye.
Formulated with a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid (0.2%), Hycosan Extra is more viscous, helping it form a stable, long-lasting lubricating and moisturising film that is not easily rinsed away. This “bioadhesive” film helps protect the cornea and conjunctiva and supports comfortable eyelid movement over the eye surface.
Hycosan Extra can also be used to support comfort when tear secretion is reduced after surgical interventions or after eye injury, where ongoing moisturising of the ocular surface is important during recovery.
Key features
- 0.2% hyaluronic acid for intensive, longer-lasting hydration and lubrication
- Preservative-free and phosphate-free (generally well tolerated, helps avoid phosphate-related corneal deposits)
- COMOD® multi-dose system: consistent measured drops; 7.5ml provides approx. 225 drops
- Suitable for long-term use and can be used by adults and children without age limitation
- May be used while wearing contact lenses (see usage advice)
How to Use
For use in the eyes only.
How often
- Generally, instil 1 drop into each eye, 3 times a day.
- If needed, it can be used more frequently. If you use Hycosan Extra more than 10 times per day, or if symptoms persist, seek advice from an optometrist/eye doctor or pharmacist.
How to apply (COMOD® bottle)
- Do not use if the protective seal on the carton is broken/damaged before first use.
- Remove the cap (pull the bottle away from the cap with a rotary movement).
- Before first use: turn the bottle tip down and press the base repeatedly until the first drop appears (priming).
- Hold the bottle upside down; avoid any contact between the tip and your eye/skin.
- Tilt head back slightly, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and press the base vigorously and quickly to release one drop.
- Close the eye gently to allow the drop to spread.
- Replace the cap immediately after use; ensure the dropper tip is dry.
Using with other eye products
- Leave at least 30 minutes between other eye drops and Hycosan Extra, and use Hycosan Extra last. Eye ointments should be used after Hycosan Extra.
Contact lenses
- Hycosan Extra may be used while wearing contact lenses (in consultation with your eye specialist). Temporary smearing on lenses may occur and usually clears after blinking. After inserting lenses, wait about 30 minutes before applying drops to reduce the chance of intolerance reactions related to lens care products.
Storage / in-use life
- Do not store above 25°C.
- Can be used for 6 months after first opening (then discard any remaining solution).

Possible side effects
- In very rare cases: hypersensitivity, burning, excessive tearing, pain, foreign-body sensation, or other temporary local irritation. Stop use if this occurs and seek advice.
- Temporary blurred vision may occur due to the viscosity of the drops; in very rare cases, temporary headache has been reported in sensitive patients. Wait until vision clears before driving or using machinery.

- Single patient use: each bottle should be used only by the same person.
