Lansoprazole 30mg - Pack of 28 Capsules

Lansoprazole Gastro-Resistant Capsules are a prescription-only medicine used to reduce excess stomach acid. Lansoprazole belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which work by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Lansoprazole is commonly prescribed for the treatment and prevention of acid-related conditions such as heartburn, acid reflux, and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It may also be used in combination with antibiotics to treat Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, or to help prevent ulcers in patients who require long-term NSAID treatment.

Available in 15mg and 30mg strengths, Lansoprazole capsules are gastro-resistant to ensure the medicine is released in the intestine, where it can work effectively.

• Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.
• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the capsule.
• For best results, take Lansoprazole at least 30 minutes before food.
• If taken once daily, it is usually best taken in the morning.
• If taken twice daily, doses are usually taken morning and evening.

Typical adult doses may include:

• Heartburn / acid reflux: 15mg or 30mg once daily
• Duodenal or stomach ulcers: 30mg once daily
• H. pylori infection: 30mg twice daily with antibiotics
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: dosage adjusted by a doctor

Lansoprazole is not recommended for children.

Capsule shell:

• Gelatin

• Titanium dioxide (E171)

• Red iron oxide (E172 – 15mg capsules only)

This medicine contains sucrose and a negligible amount of sodium.

Do Not Take Lansoprazole If:

• You are allergic to lansoprazole or any of the ingredients

• You have previously had a serious skin reaction to similar acid-reducing medicines

Warnings & Precautions

• Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

• Have liver problems

• Have osteoporosis or are at risk of bone fractures

• Have low vitamin B12 levels

• Are due to have a Chromogranin A blood test

• Long-term use (over one year) may slightly increase the risk of hip, wrist, or spine fractures.

• Taking Lansoprazole for more than three months may lead to low magnesium levels.

• If you develop a rash, especially on sun-exposed skin, or joint pain, seek medical advice.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Headache or dizziness

• Diarrhoea or constipation

• Stomach pain or nausea

• Skin rash or itching

• Tiredness

Rare but serious side effects include severe allergic reactions, serious skin reactions, liver problems, or bowel inflammation.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash, or black stools
