Description
Mefenamic Acid 250mg Capsules (100 capsules) is a prescription-only anti-inflammatory painkiller (NSAID) used for short-term relief of pain and inflammation, including period pain (dysmenorrhoea) and other painful conditions where an NSAID is suitable.
Mefenamic acid reduces substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. It is intended for use as prescribed, using the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time to reduce the risk of side effects.

How to Use

Side Effects & Warnings

Do not take and seek advice first if you:
- Have (or have had) a stomach/duodenal ulcer, GI bleeding, or inflammatory bowel disease.
- Are allergic to mefenamic acid/NSAIDs, or have had asthma/wheezing triggered by aspirin/NSAIDs.
- Have significant kidney, liver, heart problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or are at higher cardiovascular risk.
- Are pregnant, especially in the last trimester (NSAIDs may be harmful later in pregnancy).
Stop and seek urgent medical help if you get:
- Black/tarry stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain (possible GI bleed/ulcer).
- Chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness on one side, slurred speech (possible clot-related event).
- Severe rash, blistering, swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing (allergic reaction).
Common side effects can include
- Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea/diarrhoea, headache, dizziness.
Interactions (tell your prescriber/pharmacist if you take):
- Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin/DOACs), antiplatelets, steroids, SSRIs, other NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors/diuretics, lithium or methotrexate.
