Melolin Cushioned Dressing Pads - 5x5cm - Pack of 100

Melolin Cushioned Dressing Pads (5cm x 5cm, pack of 100) are sterile, low-adherent absorbent wound dressings designed to protect the wound while helping to minimise sticking and discomfort during dressing changes. Suitable for a wide range of light to moderately exuding wounds, including clean sutured wounds, abrasions, lacerations and minor burns.

The dressing has a three-layer structure:

• A thin perforated polyester film wound contact layer (low-adherent)
• A highly absorbent cotton and acrylic fibre pad for cushioning and exudate absorption
• A backing layer (commonly described as a protective outer layer)

Key features

• Low-adherent contact layer to help reduce trauma on removal
• Cushioned, absorbent pad for comfort and fluid handling
• Sterile and individually wrapped for hygienic wound care
• Can be cut to size without losing integrity (use clean scissors) 

For external use only. Single use dressing.

1. Wash hands and follow clean technique.
2. Clean the wound area as advised (e.g., saline/clean water) and gently pat the surrounding skin dry.
3. Open the sterile pack and remove the dressing.
4. Place the low-adherent film side onto the wound (the smooth/shiny contact layer should face the wound).
5. Secure with an appropriate fixation such as Micropore/medical tape, cohesive bandage or retention bandage (not supplied).
6. Change the dressing as needed depending on exudate level and local protocol. Replace sooner if it becomes wet through, loose, or soiled.

When to seek advice

• If the wound is deep/large, caused by a bite, heavily contaminated, or not improving.
• If you notice signs of infection: increasing pain, heat, swelling, redness spreading, pus, fever, or a bad smell.

• Protective backing layer (outer layer) 

• Single use only: do not re-use a dressing once removed (infection risk).
• Do not use if the sterile pouch is damaged, open, or the dressing is past its expiry date.
• Stop use and seek advice if you develop skin irritation, rash, itching, or increased discomfort where the dressing contacts the skin.
• Seek urgent advice if there is worsening redness, swelling, pain, discharge/pus, fever, or if the wound edges are separating.

Important

• If exudate becomes heavy, or the wound is weeping through quickly, you may need a more absorbent dressing and clinical review.
