MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide) – 2 ml is a targeted topical medical device solution indicated for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum, a common viral skin infection characterised by small, raised bumps. MolluDab is clinically proven to help break down the protein structure of the infected skin cells that encase the molluscum contagiosum virus, enabling the body’s immune system to recognise and clear the virus more effectively.

The 5 % potassium hydroxide concentration is effective yet well tolerated when used as directed, offering an option for home-based lesion-targeted treatment. Clinically, results — often seen as an inflammatory response — typically develop within 1–4 weeks of consistent application, after which lesions may resolve with continued support. 

Shake the bottle gently before use to mix the solution evenly.

• The product is supplied with a cap and applicator (brush/spatula) to help deliver a precise amount.

• Apply a small amount directly to the surface of each visible molluscum lesion using the applicator. Focus only on the bumps and avoid healthy surrounding skin.

• Use twice daily (morning and evening) for up to 14 days. Stop application to an individual lesion either when it becomes inflamed (redness may be a sign of response) or at 14 days, whichever comes first.

• If new lesions appear during treatment, continue to treat new bumps following the same guidance.

Note: Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, mucous membranes and open wounds. MolluDab is for external use only. If you’re unsure whether the lesion is molluscum contagiosum, consult a clinician before using. 

Active Ingredient:

• Potassium Hydroxide 5% w/w — keratolytic agent that helps break down the infected cell layer of molluscum contagiosum lesions, aiding immune recognition and clearance.

Other Ingredient:

• Purified Water (Aqua) — base solvent for the solution.

MolluDab has a simple formulation designed to deliver the active ingredient accurately to target lesions with minimal unnecessary components.

Warnings & Precautions

• For external use only. Do not ingest.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, open wounds, mucous membranes (e.g., genital or oral mucosa), or skin broken by scratching.

• Do not use on lesions that are already inflamed or infected unless advised by a clinician.

• Not suitable for children under 2 years old; consult a clinician or pharmacist for alternative approaches for younger children.

• Use with caution in individuals with a known tendency to form excess scar tissue (e.g., keloids or hypertrophic scars).

• Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Seek advice from a healthcare professional before applying.

• Stop treatment after 14 days or once lesion inflammation is observed. Do not use for extended periods without professional advice.

• Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place and follow the expiry date on packaging.

Possible Side Effects

• Local irritation: Mild stinging, redness or slight burning at the application site may occur as part of the immune response; these effects are usually temporary.

• Inflammatory reaction: Redness, itching or swelling at treated bumps may be a sign that the solution is working. Seek a clinician / pharmacist if symptoms worsen, become severe, or do not settle.

If you experience severe irritation, blistering or signs of secondary infection, discontinue use and consult a clinician as soon as possible.
