Nurofen Joint & Muscular Pain Relief 200mg Medicated Plasters – Pack of 2 provide localised pain relief using a medicated plaster that delivers ibuprofen directly at the site of pain for 24 hours of application.

Indicated for: the short-term symptomatic treatment of local pain in acute muscular strains or sprains following minor injuries close to a joint (upper or lower limb) in adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over.

What you get: each sachet contains 2 medicated plasters. Each plaster is 10cm x 14cm, flesh-coloured with a self-adhesive medicated layer and protective liners.

Always use exactly as described in the leaflet.

Who can use it

• Adults and adolescents 16 years and over: 1 plaster per dose.
• Under 16s: do not use.

How many and how long

• Maximum dose in a single 24-hour period: one medicated plaster.
• Use the lowest dose for the shortest time to relieve symptoms.
• Do not use for more than 5 days unless your doctor tells you to. If you do not feel better or feel worse after 5 days, seek advice.

Where to apply

• For use on the skin only and only on healthy, unbroken skin.

Method of application

1. Tear or cut the sachet open along the dotted line.
2. Remove the plastic film marked (A) and place the adhesive strip over the middle of the painful area.
3. Remove film (B) and, stretching slightly, smooth this part onto the skin.
4. Remove film (C).
5. Stretching slightly, smooth the rest of the plaster onto the skin.

While wearing the plaster

• Do not cover with non-breathable dressings/bandages or get the plaster wet.

If you use too many

• Accidental overdose is unlikely, but seek medical advice. Possible signs include nausea/vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, ringing in the ears, headache, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

• Ibuprofen 200mg

Other ingredients:

Adhesive layer: Macrogol 400, Macrogol 20000, Levo-Menthol, Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene Block Copolymer, Polyisobutylene, Hydrogenated Rosin Glycerol Ester, Liquid Paraffin.

Backing layer: Woven Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).

Release liner: Silicone coated Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).

Do not use

• If you are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, other NSAIDs, or any ingredient in the plaster.
• If you have ever had an allergic reaction to NSAIDs/aspirin (e.g., asthma, wheezing, itching, runny nose, rash, swelling).
• In the last 3 months of pregnancy.
• On injured skin (abrasions, cuts, burns), infected skin, or skin affected by dermatitis/eczema, and do not apply to the eyes, mouth, lips, or genital area.

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you

• Have (or have had) asthma or allergies.
• Have a history of stomach ulcer, bowel, heart, kidney or liver problems.
• Are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or are breastfeeding (use only if clearly necessary and advised; do not apply directly to the breast when breastfeeding).
• Are elderly (you may be more likely to have side effects).

Other medicines

Tell a pharmacist/doctor if you take:

• Aspirin or other NSAIDs
• Medicines to lower blood pressure
• Medicines to thin the blood (e.g., warfarin)

Important precautions while using

• Stop use and seek medical advice at the first sign of a skin reaction (rash, peeling, blistering) or other allergic reaction.
• Avoid exposing the treated area to strong natural or artificial light (e.g., tanning lamps) during treatment and for one day after removal, to reduce the risk of light sensitivity.
• Report any unusual abdominal symptoms (especially bleeding) to your doctor.

Possible side effects

Stop using and contact a doctor immediately if you develop signs of allergic reaction (e.g., asthma/wheezing/shortness of breath, itching, runny nose, skin rash).

Serious skin reactions have been reported with ibuprofen, including severe blistering/peeling rashes (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis), DRESS, and AGEP. Stop using and seek urgent medical attention if symptoms occur.

Other effects (frequency not known) may include local skin reactions (redness, burning, itching, soreness, weeping), breathing difficulties, stomach problems, kidney problems, and skin sensitivity to light.
