Tixylix Baby Syrup - 100ml

Tixylix Baby Syrup 100ml is a medicinal cough syrup formulated to relieve the symptoms of dry, tickly coughs in babies and children aged 3 months to 5 years. The syrup contains glycerol as the active ingredient, which works by coating and soothing the throat, helping to reduce irritation and calm the cough reflex.

This sugar-free and colour-free formula is flavoured with natural blackcurrant to improve palatability, making it easier for young children to take. It’s a common first-line choice in UK pharmacies for symptomatic relief of mild coughs associated with colds and throat irritation. A measuring spoon is provided for accurate dosing.

Administration:

• Shake bottle well before use.
• Use the measuring spoon provided to ensure accurate dose.

Recommended dosing:

• 3 months to under 1 year: 1 × 5ml spoonful
• 1 to 5 years: 2 × 5ml spoonfuls
• Give 3–4 times daily as required, leaving 3–4 hours between doses.

Co-administration:

• Tixylix may be given with or without food.

Important notes:

• Do not give to babies under 3 months.
• Do not exceed the stated dose.
• If symptoms persist beyond 3 days or worsen, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Active ingredient per 5ml:

• Glycerol 0.75ml – forms a soothing protective film over the throat to ease irritation and reduce coughing.

• Citric acid monohydrate
• Sodium citrate

Warnings & Precautions

• For oral use only.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Tixylix may cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. In the event of an overdose, diarrhoea may occur.

Rare reactions:

• Although uncommon, if you notice signs of allergy (rash, swelling, breathing difficulties), stop use and seek medical advice immediately.
• If cough worsens, persists more than 3 days, or is accompanied by fever, rash, persistent headache or breathing difficulties, consult a healthcare professional promptly.

Other Precautions

• Contains maltitol, which may have a mild laxative effect in some children.
• Contains sodium benzoate and propylene glycol in small amounts.

Storage

• Store below 25°C.
• Keep the bottle tightly closed and do not use after the expiry date.
