Anadin Extra Caplets - 32 Tablets

Anadin Extra Caplets – 32 Tablets deliver effective relief from mild to moderate pain using a triple-action formula of aspirin + paracetamol + caffeine. Aspirin and paracetamol relieve pain and reduce temperature and fever; aspirin is also an anti-inflammatory (NSAID). Caffeine increases the pain-relieving effect of the product.

Provides relief from:

• Headache and migraine
• Neuralgia (sharp nerve pain), toothache, sore throat
• Period pains
• Sprains, strains, rheumatic pain
• Sciatica, lumbago, chronic muscle pain (fibrositis), muscular aches and pains
• Joint swelling and stiffness
• Influenza, feverishness and feverish colds

Pack size: 32 caplets.

Always read the leaflet before use. For oral administration and short-term use only. Use the minimum effective dose for the shortest time needed to relieve symptoms.

Dose

Adults, the elderly and young persons aged over 16 years:

• Take 2 caplets with water, up to 4 times a day as required
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses
• Do not take more than 8 caplets in 24 hours

Do not give to children under 16 years unless on a doctor’s advice (Reye’s syndrome risk).

For migraine: not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years.

Important: Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing products.

If you take too many: seek medical help immediately, even if you feel well (risk of serious, delayed liver damage from paracetamol). 

Active ingredients (per caplet): Aspirin 300mg, Paracetamol 200mg, Caffeine 45mg

Other ingredients: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), hydrogenated vegetable oil, hypromellose (E464), macrogol, pregelatinised starch, povidone. 

Do not take if you:

• Are allergic to aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine or any ingredient
• Have (or have ever had) a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
• Have haemophilia or gout
• Have asthma triggered by aspirin/other NSAIDs
• Are breast-feeding
• Are in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if you:

• Have asthma, allergic disease, dehydration, history of gout, liver/kidney disease (including alcoholic liver disease) or G-6-PD deficiency
• Have severe illness (including severe renal impairment or sepsis), malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, or are taking flucloxacillin (risk of serious metabolic acidosis)
• Are pregnant
• Consume a lot of caffeine (coffee/tea/energy drinks): avoid excessive caffeine while taking this medicine
• Drink alcohol: avoid alcohol during treatment

Interactions (important examples)

• Do not use with other NSAIDs.
• Tell a pharmacist/doctor if you take anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) or other medicines listed in the leaflet (including SSRIs, methotrexate, epilepsy medicines, diabetes medicines).

Possible side effects

Stop taking and seek urgent advice if you get:

• Wheezing/breathing difficulties (especially if you have asthma)
• Unexpected bleeding/bruising, blood in urine, nose/gum bleeding
• Severe allergic reaction (swelling, rash, difficulty breathing)
• Serious skin reactions (redness, blistering, rash)
• Signs of liver problems

Other possible effects include abdominal discomfort/bleeding, GI ulceration, indigestion, nausea/vomiting, prolonged bleeding time, temporary hearing loss, fluid retention, dizziness/headache, palpitations, insomnia/restlessness/anxiety/irritability, and metabolic acidosis (rare).
