Canesten Oral Fluconazole Capsule 150 mg is a pharmacy medicine used in the UK for the treatment of thrush (candida yeast infection) affecting adults. Each single-dose, antifungal oral capsule contains 150 mg of fluconazole, an azole antifungal that works systemically to combat the underlying cause of thrush by inhibiting fungal growth. Thrush is caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast, leading to symptoms such as persistent itching, burning, soreness, redness and abnormal discharge.

Canesten fluconazole capsules are suitable for both women and men experiencing thrush symptoms (e.g., vaginal or penile thrush) and can help restore comfort and balance quickly, often beginning to clear symptoms within a couple of days after the single dose. 

For adults (usually aged 16–60 unless otherwise advised by a pharmacist or doctor):

• Swallow one capsule whole with a glass of water, with or without food.
• Do not crush or chew the capsule.
• A single 150 mg dose is typically sufficient to treat most uncomplicated thrush infections.
• The symptoms of thrush should start to improve within 48 hours, with full symptom resolution often within a few days.
• If symptoms persist beyond 7 days, or if recurrent infections occur more than twice in 6 months, consult your doctor.
