Description
Clarityn Allergy 10mg Tablets are an antihistamine containing loratadine 10mg to help relieve allergy symptoms by reducing the effects of histamine in the body.
Provides 24-hour relief with once-daily dosing and helps you carry on with normal daily activities and sleep.
Used for relief of symptoms associated with:
- Allergic rhinitis (hayfever and year-round airborne allergies): sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and burning/itchy eyes
- Urticaria (hives / nettle rash): itching and redness
Pack contains: 30 tablets (white to off-white, oval tablets with a score on one side).
How to Use
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor/pharmacist has told you.
How much to take (oral use):
- Adults and children aged 6 years and older who weigh more than 30kg (4st 7lb): 1 tablet once daily
- Children who weigh 30kg (4st 7lb) or less: Not recommended (another formulation is more suitable)
If you have severe liver problems: your doctor/pharmacist may advise taking the recommended dose every other day.
If you forget a dose: take it as soon as you remember, then continue as normal. Do not take a double dose.
If you take too many: seek medical advice. Headache, rapid heartbeat or sleepiness may occur.
Ingredients
Active ingredient (per tablet): Loratadine 10mg
Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate, maize starch, magnesium stearate
Side Effects & Warnings
Do not take if:
- You are allergic (hypersensitive) to loratadine or any ingredient
- You are pregnant or breast-feeding (do not take if breast-feeding; loratadine is excreted in breast milk)
Talk to a doctor/pharmacist before taking if:
- You have liver disease
- You are scheduled to have skin tests for allergies. Do not take Clarityn Allergy Tablets for 2 days before the tests, as it may affect results.
Children:
- Do not give to children under 6 years or to children who weigh 30kg or less (more suitable formulations are available). Safety/efficacy under 2 years has not been established.
Alcohol / driving:
- Clarityn Allergy Tablets have not been shown to add to the effects of alcohol.
- At the recommended dose, drowsiness is not expected, but very rarely some people may feel drowsy which can affect driving or using machines.
Contains lactose: if you have an intolerance to some sugars, seek advice before use.
Possible side effects
Most commonly reported in adults and children over 12:
- Drowsiness, headache, increased appetite, difficulty sleeping
Most commonly reported in children aged 2 to 12:
- Headache, nervousness, tiredness
Very rare effects reported include severe allergic reaction (including swelling), dizziness, convulsion, fast/irregular heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, upset stomach, liver problems, hair loss, rash, tiredness; frequency not known: weight gain.
