Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream is effective in the treatment of sweat rash and athlete's foot caused by fungi and bacteria where inflammation is present.
Description
Daktacort Hydrocortisone Antifungal Cream 15g is a topical combination medicine used to treat inflamed fungal skin infections. It contains both an antifungal agent to treat the underlying fungal infection and a mild corticosteroid to help relieve associated redness, itching, swelling and inflammation.
This cream is commonly recommended in pharmacy practice for short-term treatment where fungal infections are accompanied by inflammation, such as:
- Infected eczema
- Athlete’s foot with inflammation
- Infected dermatitis
- Fungal skin infections in skin folds
Daktacort is suitable for use on areas such as the feet, groin and body, where advised, and is intended for short-term use only.

How to Use
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as advised by a pharmacist or GP.
Directions for use:
- Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before application
- Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected skin
- Use once or twice daily, as directed
- Rub in gently until absorbed
Duration of use:
- Use for up to 7 days only, unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional
- If symptoms improve, continue treatment for the full course advised
Important usage advice:
- Wash hands after application (unless treating the hands)
- Do not cover with airtight dressings unless advised
- If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, seek medical advice
Ingredients
Active ingredients:
- Miconazole Nitrate 2% w/w (antifungal)
- Hydrocortisone 1% w/w (mild corticosteroid)
Other ingredients include:
- Benzoic Acid
- Butylhydroxyanisole
- Purified Water
- Emollient cream base

Side Effects & Warnings
Do not use Daktacort:
- On the face, eyes or lips
- On broken, ulcerated or infected skin unless advised
- On acne, rosacea or perioral dermatitis
- In children under 10 years of age
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients
Warnings & precautions:
- For external use only
- Do not use for longer than recommended
- Prolonged use may cause skin thinning due to the corticosteroid content
- Avoid use on large areas of skin
Possible side effects:
- Mild skin irritation, burning or itching at the application site
- Thinning of the skin if used excessively or for prolonged periods
When to seek medical advice:
- If symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days
- If signs of infection spread or recur
- If used accidentally on the face or sensitive areas
