Deep Relief Dual Action Gel - 50g

Mentholatum Deep Relief Dual Action Gel – 50g is a topical pain-relief gel that combines two active ingredients for targeted relief where you need it:

• Ibuprofen (NSAID) to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling
• Levomenthol for a cooling, soothing sensation to help calm discomfort

Used for the relief of:

• Rheumatic pain (muscles, tendons, joints or bones)
• Muscular aches and pains
• Pains and swellings such as sprains, strains and sports injuries

What it’s like: a clear gel with a menthol odour. 

Always read the leaflet before use. For external use only. Do not swallow.

Who can use it: Adults and children over 12 years.

How much to apply (50g tube):

• Use 1–4cm of gel each time.

How to apply:

1. Apply a thin layer over the affected area.
2. Gently rub in until absorbed (a mild tingling sensation can occur).
3. Unless treating your hands, wash your hands immediately after use.
4. Replace cap tightly after use.

How often:

• Use up to 3 times a day.
• Do not use more often than every 4 hours.

How long to use:

• If symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks, seek medical advice. 

Active ingredients:

• Ibuprofen 5% w/w
• Levomenthol 3% w/w

Other ingredients:

Propylene glycol, carbomer, diisopropanolamine, ethanol and water.

Contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation in some people. 

Do not use if you:

• Are allergic to ibuprofen, menthol/levomenthol, or any ingredients
• Are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs, or if these have caused asthma, rhinitis, itching or rashes
• Are breastfeeding
• Are more than 6 months pregnant
• Have broken, infected or inflamed skin at the application site
• Are applying other medicines to the skin on the same area
• Are using it on children under 12 years

Avoid applying to: lips, nostrils, eyes, genital or anal areas, or other sensitive areas. If accidental contact occurs, wash away with plenty of clean water.

Take special care and seek advice before use if you:

• Have (or have had) a kidney problem or a stomach ulcer
• Have had allergic symptoms such as rashes/itching caused by medicines or cosmetics
• Are up to 6 months pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are having fertility treatment
• Are taking aspirin, other pain relief medicines, or regular medicines (ask for advice)

Possible side effects

Stop using and seek medical advice urgently if you get: unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, blistering or rash, itching/redness/bruising, or swelling of the face.

A mild redness, drying, tingling or burning feeling where applied can occur; if this worsens, stop use and seek advice.

More rarely, stomach pains/indigestion or kidney problems (particularly if you already have kidney disease) have been reported.
