Feminax Express - 16 Tablets

Feminax Express 342mg tablets contain ibuprofen lysine, the lysine salt of ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps reduce pain, fever and swelling.

Used to relieve:

• Period pain (dysmenorrhoea) and associated cramps
• Headache and migraine
• Backache, rheumatic and muscular pain
• Neuralgia (nerve pain)
• Dental pain
• Fever (high temperature) and symptoms of colds and flu

Pack size: 16 film-coated tablets. 

For oral use. Swallow the tablets with water, preferably with or after food.

Dosage

Adults, the elderly and adolescents aged 12–18 years

• Initial dose: 1 or 2 tablets
• Then, if necessary: 1 or 2 tablets every 4 hours
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses
• Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24-hour period

Children under 12 years: Do not give.

How long to take

• Intended for short-term use only. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed.
• Adults: do not take for longer than 10 days unless your doctor tells you to.
• Ages 12–18: if needed for more than 3 days, or if symptoms worsen, consult a doctor.

If you take too many

Seek urgent medical advice. Symptoms can include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting (possibly blood-streaked), headache, ringing in the ears, confusion and, at high doses, drowsiness, chest pain or seizures (especially in children). 

Active ingredient (per tablet)

• Ibuprofen 200mg (as ibuprofen lysine)

Other ingredients

Crospovidone, copovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, Opadry II White (polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol, talc). 

Do not take if you:

• Have (or have had 2 or more episodes of) a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
• Are allergic to ibuprofen, any ingredient, or to aspirin/other painkillers (including reactions such as wheezing, shortness of breath, runny nose, rash or itching)
• Have severe kidney, heart or liver failure
• Are taking aspirin above 75mg daily
• Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
• (Age) Under 12 years

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if you:

• Are elderly (higher risk of serious side effects, especially stomach problems)
• Have or have had asthma, allergies, diabetes, high cholesterol
• Have liver or kidney problems
• Have stomach/bowel disorders such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
• Have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
• Have, have had, or are at risk of heart problems, high blood pressure or stroke (risk may be higher at high doses; do not exceed the recommended dose or duration)
• Are an adolescent who is dehydrated (risk of kidney problems)

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not take in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If you are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or breastfeeding, speak to a doctor before taking.

Taking other medicines

Do not take with certain medicines. Ibuprofen can interact with other medicines including other NSAIDs (including COX-2 inhibitors), SSRIs, ciclosporin/tacrolimus, mifepristone (avoid NSAIDs for 12 days after), lithium, zidovudine and quinolone antibiotics. If you take regular medicines, ask a pharmacist or doctor for advice.

Possible side effects

Stop taking and get medical help straight away if you develop:

• Signs of gastrointestinal bleeding (vomiting blood, black tarry stools, blood in stools)
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction (wheezing/shortness of breath, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, collapse)
• Severe skin reactions (blistering/peeling) or symptoms of DRESS (rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes)

Other reported effects include stomach discomfort, nausea, indigestion/heartburn, headache, rash/itching (uncommon), and diarrhoea/constipation/vomiting (rare). Very rarely, ulcers/perforation, worsening bowel disease, kidney or liver problems, and blood disorders can occur.

Storage

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original container. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
