Description
Nicorette® Original Gum 2mg is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) used to relieve and/or prevent withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings when you stop smoking tobacco or vaping, or when you cut down.
The nicotine is released when you chew and is absorbed through the lining of the mouth. Used correctly, it helps manage cravings without the “buzz” associated with smoking.
Who it’s for (strength guide)
- 2mg gum is suitable if you smoke 20 or fewer cigarettes a day, are a light to moderate vaper, or if you are stepping down from higher-strength nicotine gum.
Pack size
- 105 pieces (medicated chewing gum).
How to Use
Dose (adults and children aged 12 years and over)
- Use 1 piece of 2mg gum as required to relieve cravings.
- Use only one piece at a time.
- Do not use more than 15 gums per day.
How to chew Nicorette gum (important)
Nicorette gum is not chewed like ordinary chewing gum. Chew correctly so nicotine is released and absorbed properly.
- Chew slowly until the taste becomes strong.
- Rest the gum between your cheek and gum.
- Chew again when the taste fades, repeating the “chew and rest” cycle.
- Continue for about 30 minutes, then dispose of the gum carefully.
Stopping smoking/vaping
- Use Nicorette gum instead of cigarettes/e-cigarettes when you have cravings, then reduce the number of gums gradually until you stop completely.
- If you find it difficult to stop using the gum, seek advice from a doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
If you use too many gums (or smoke/vape while using)
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, increased salivation, stomach pain, diarrhoea, sweating, headache, dizziness, hearing disturbance or weakness. Seek urgent medical advice and do not smoke or vape.
