Nurofen Migraine Pain - 12 Caplets

Nurofen Migraine Pain 342mg – 12 Caplets provides targeted relief from headache and migraine pain using ibuprofen lysine, a form of ibuprofen that is absorbed quickly.

Each caplet contains Ibuprofen Lysine 342mg (equivalent to Ibuprofen 200mg). Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps relieve pain by changing the body’s response to pain.

Used for the relief of:

• Headaches
• Migraine pain

Pack size: 12 caplets (not all pack sizes are marketed).

Always read the leaflet before use. For oral use and short-term use only. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.

Adults, the elderly, and children/adolescents aged 12 to 18 years:

• Take 1 or 2 caplets with water, up to three times a day as required
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses
• Do not take more than 6 caplets in 24 hours

Do not give to children under 12 years.

How long to take

• Ages 12–18: if needed for more than 3 days, or if symptoms worsen, seek medical advice
• Adults: do not take for longer than 10 days unless advised by a doctor; if symptoms persist/worsen or new symptoms occur, seek advice

If you take too many: contact a doctor or hospital straight away (symptoms may include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, headache, ringing in the ears, confusion; severe overdose can cause serious effects). 

Active ingredient (per caplet):

• Ibuprofen 200mg (as Ibuprofen Lysine 342mg)

Other ingredients:

Povidone, Sodium Starch Glycollate Type A, Magnesium Stearate, Hypromellose, Talc, Opaspray White M-1-7111B (contains Hypromellose and Titanium Dioxide (E171)), and Black Ink (contains Shellac, Iron Oxide Black (E172) and Propylene Glycol).

Sodium: less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per dose (essentially “sodium-free”). 

Do not take this medicine if you:

• Are allergic to ibuprofen, any ingredient, aspirin, or other painkillers
• Have (or have had two or more episodes) of a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
• Have had gastrointestinal bleeding/perforation with NSAIDs before
• Have had worsening of asthma, rash, itchy runny nose or facial swelling after ibuprofen/aspirin/similar medicines
• Are taking other NSAID painkillers or more than 75mg aspirin a day
• Have severe liver or kidney problems
• Have heart problems, high blood pressure, or a blood coagulation disorder, or have breathing difficulties
• Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
• Are under 12 years old

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if you:

• Have or have had asthma, or kidney, heart, liver or bowel problems
• Have high cholesterol or previously had a heart attack or stroke
• Have inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease) or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
• Are a smoker
• Have an infection (ibuprofen can mask signs such as fever and pain; seek advice if symptoms persist or worsen)
• Are pregnant (especially from 20 weeks onwards where longer use may affect the unborn baby’s kidneys and amniotic fluid; use only if advised and for the shortest time)
• Breastfeeding: do not take

Stop taking and seek urgent medical help if you develop:

• Signs of intestinal bleeding (bright red stools, black tarry stools, vomiting blood or “coffee-ground” material)
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction (breathing difficulty/wheezing, swelling of face/tongue/throat, dizziness/fast heartbeat)
• Severe skin reactions (blistering/peeling, ulcers affecting mouth/eyes/genitals; DRESS; widespread red scaly rash with bumps/blisters and fever)
• Signs of kidney problems (changes in urine, blood in urine, back pain, swelling especially legs)

Possible side effects can include stomach upset (indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea), and other effects listed in the leaflet. Some risks (e.g., heart attack or stroke) may be slightly increased with higher doses/longer use.
