Product Overview
Banana-flavoured mebendazole suspension for threadworm treatment in adults and children aged 2 +. 30 ml family pack providing six 5 ml doses with UK pharmacy compliant instructions.
Description
Ovex Suspension Banana Flavoured Family Pack 30 ml is a pharmacy medicine indicated for the treatment of threadworm (Enterobius vermicularis) infections in the gut. The suspension contains the anthelmintic active ingredient mebendazole, which works by preventing threadworms from absorbing glucose, leading to loss of energy and death of the worms.
This banana-flavoured liquid formulation is designed to make administration easier, especially for children and family use. The 30 ml family pack provides six single 5 ml doses, making it suitable when more than one household member requires treatment. Threadworm infections are highly contagious; treating the entire family at once helps prevent reinfection when combined with hygiene measures.
How to Use
Adults and children aged 2 years and over:
- Shake the bottle well before use.
- Use the 5 ml measuring cup provided to dispense the correct dose.
- Take one 5 ml dose only per person.
- The suspension may be taken with food if preferred, but this is not essential.
Repeat Treatment:
- A second dose may be taken after two weeks if reinfection is suspected, particularly where hygiene measures have not fully prevented reinfection.
Important UK Pharmacy Notes:
- Not recommended for children under 2 years of age; seek medical advice for younger children.
- Always read the enclosed leaflet or ask a pharmacist for dosing questions.
- Treat all household contacts simultaneously to minimise the risk of spread and reinfection.
