Polytar® contains coal tar, a long-established treatment that works by slowing excessive skin cell turnover, reducing inflammation and helping to relieve itching, redness and scaling. Regular use helps loosen and remove flakes while supporting healthier scalp skin.
This shampoo is suitable for adults and children when used as directed and can be used as part of an ongoing scalp care routine for chronic or recurring scalp conditions.

How to Use
Always follow the instructions on the label or patient information leaflet.
- Wet hair thoroughly.
- Apply enough shampoo to cover the scalp.
- Massage gently into the scalp.
- Leave on for 3–5 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Repeat if necessary.
Recommended use:
- Use 2–3 times weekly or as directed by a pharmacist or GP.
- Once symptoms improve, frequency may be reduced.
Avoid contact with eyes. If shampoo enters the eyes, rinse well with water.
If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 2–4 weeks, seek medical advice.
