Description
ThermaCare Back HeatWraps – 2 HeatWraps are air-activated heat wraps designed to fit the lower back and hip area. They provide targeted heat therapy to help ease minor muscular and joint aches and pains associated with:
- muscle tension and overexertion
- strains and sprains
- arthritis
How they work
ThermaCare uses patented heat-cell technology to generate a steady, therapeutic warmth (about 40°C) for a fixed duration, helping to relax tight muscles and improve flexibility.
How long they last
- Up to 8 hours of continuous heat while worn
- The UK product information also states up to 16 hours of pain relief (8 hours wear + up to 8 hours after removal).

How to Use
Always read and follow the pack instructions.
- Tear open the pouch only when ready to use (wraps are air-activated).
- Do not cut the wrap.
- Peel away the paper to reveal the adhesive side.
- Place over the painful area on the lower back/hip with the adhesive side against the skin and adjust for comfort (do not overtighten).
- Allow up to 30 minutes to reach therapeutic temperature.
- Wear for up to 8 hours, then remove and dispose. Do not use for more than 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
- Keep the heatwrap dry while wearing.
Course length: Do not use on consecutive days beyond the limits on the packaging (Irish/EEA panel guidance states not more than 7 consecutive days). If pain persists, seek advice.
Ingredients
ThermaCare heat cells contain heat-generating components typically listed as:
- Iron powder, activated charcoal, sodium chloride, sodium thiosulfate, water (and in some product labelling, sodium polyacrylate).
Important: Each heat cell contains iron (~2g) and can be harmful if ingested.
Side Effects & Warnings
Burn / blister risk
This product can cause burns/blisters. Check skin frequently during use. Remove immediately if you notice irritation, excessive redness, blistering or a burn.
Age and supervision
- Do not use under 12 years of age.
- Ages 12–18 or anyone who isn’t able to follow instructions/remove the product: supervision is required.
- 55 years or older: burn risk increases with age. Do not wear while sleeping; if it feels too hot, stop use or wear over a layer of clothing.
Do not use
- If the wrap is damaged/torn or heat cell contents leak, or if packaging is damaged
- Longer than 8 hours in 24 hours
- With topical preparations (pain rubs/medicated creams/ointments) or other forms of heat
- On unhealthy, damaged or broken skin, or on bruising/swelling within the last 48 hours
- On areas where you cannot feel heat
- On body areas other than those intended (panel lists back/neck/shoulder/wrist).
While using
- Do not apply too tightly and do not overlap heat cells.
- Do not place extra pressure over the wrap (e.g., leaning against hard surfaces or under tight clothing).
- Remove before MRI (increased burn risk).
Ask a healthcare professional before use if you have
Diabetes, poor circulation, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, or if you are pregnant.
Stop use and seek advice
If pain worsens, remains unchanged after 7 days, or you develop persistent skin changes where the wrap was worn.
If ingested / contact with eyes
Keep out of reach of children and pets. If ingested, or if contents contact skin/eyes, rinse with water and seek professional assistance immediately.
